If Beane doesn’t acquire Garrett or Metcalf, are you “so &*!%$ing done with this team?”

  1. 1. If Beane doesn’t acquire Garrett or Metcalf, are you “so &*!%$ing done with this team?”

    • Hell yes, Beane doesn’t understand what it takes to get over the hump
      10
    • Hell no, Beane has a plan and won’t mortgage the future for a splash player

    • Still supportive but disappointed, because I feel like they need one more proven “difference-maker” and can’t just rely on the draft

Yeah, the judgement of the offseason moves isn't totally dependent on the two listed.  Need to see the prices/cost of the players and what Beane brings in.  Make no mistake I would love to see either/both Garrett and DK come here.

But if Green Bay gives a 1st and Doubs for DK, and Wash gives up 3 1st's and makes Garrett the highest paid non-QB, I will understand.  Beane could still bring in a C Kupp or D Adams or D Slayton along with T Hendrickson or K Mack or J Bosa and a S and/or CB, and draft a DT.

I'd be disappointed, but as you noted, not very disappointed if the price was unbeatable for those guys.

Barring DK/Garret, I'd like to see Hendrickson or K. Mack at the very least in here, perhaps with another high-upside Edge like Koonce.  in terms of WR, Slayton and D. Adams would be a huge upgrade.

IMHO ... damn the draft capital, they want a first? Give it to them. They want a first and second? Give it to them. A first and second this year, and a first next? No problem. Garrett is a generational kind of player, and REALLY who should care about the 30,31,or 32nd picks in the draft.

Where the rub comes in is the $$$ cost, I don't want the Bill's in cap hell for the next five years to bring anyone here.

I don’t care at all about Metcalf.

I would love to get Garrett or Hendrickson.

or something similar on defense with a big DT.

The defense is where he needs to focus or I’ll be very disappointed.

The offense for the most part is fine. Sure a nice outside speed receiver would be great but the defense needs fixed first or the receiver won’t even matter.

They won’t score that many more points than they did last year with a new receiver.

BUT if they are still giving up as many points then nothing will be solved.

Let’s say they get the new receiver that is supposed to be so good. How much more than 30 points per game is he really going to help get? It’s not like that will make them score 40 points per game.

BUT without the new defensive players they could end up giving up 35 points a game to the top tier teams and they won’t be getting to the Super Bowl again.

I mean I'd love either but the defense needs more than Garrett so the whole sum of parts I am looking at more. They could sign Sweat DE & Ward CB + draft 2-3 lineman early and I'd be happy as I think they need an infusion of talent more than one guy (even if Garrett is that good) to really alter things. Metcalf I will be annoyed because he feels really gettable given the picks being asked and is the guy I have wanted Josh playing style to have forever. But again other moves and players exist so get back to me in August and I will let you know then.

I’ll be sad if and when we don’t get Garrett.

I like the thought of DK, but I don’t think he’s a 30M WR and not worth a first and third for this team.  I don’t think we’re ever going to use a WR1 the way they want to be used.  He’d be a waste based on how we’d use him.

I think the best WR for how this team is constructed is a deep threat that doesn’t cost 20m+

Slayton and Hollywood would suffice and we’d still have picks to build our roster…..or to add a DL

Absolutely not, although we should be done with anyone who asks this Question/Poll in the manner this was.

Can I ask why on Metcalf? Seriously, I haven’t paid enough attention to attention to him to have an opinion.

He drops a lot of passes and imo is too ‘blocky’/strong to be a smooth route runner.

If DK Metcalf refuses to play in cold weather city there's nothing Beane can do.  If the Browns won't trade Garrett or won't trade him to an AFC team there's nothing he can do.  I do expect a big move at one of those positions before the draft but I doubt it's for either of them.

Look…enough people don’t have a sense of humor about this.  Rather than having multiple threads each time a “big name” is reported as being available, here’s a place to state your case about whether or not you think Beane “needs” to make a splash move.  If you don’t want to participate that’s just fine.

It’s an annual occurrence of some fans stating they are “so %^$&ing done with this team!” because of some move Beane did or didn’t make — hence the poll title.

Have a great weekend.

Maybe I'm looking at this wrong, and I probably am.

Step #1 - Try and talk a team that doesn't want to trade Garrett into trading him. To do that the Browns would want to maximize their return. I'd expect that to be 2 first round picks minimum, probably more, remember he's their Josh Allen... If you're able to talk them into it go to step #2 ...

Step #2 - Come to a contract extension with Garrett. You know how athletes are, and remember that Maxx Crosby just signed for 35.5M per season, Garrett will want 36M per year minimum and take the title of highest paid non QB ... If you decide you can afford him then go to step #3 ...

Step #3 - Cut Von Miller and take the dead cap hit on him, how much would that be again ?

Did that Von Miller splash signing live up to your expectations?

Exactly. Six years $120 million to a 33-year old. What could go wrong?

Yes, Beane leaves future Pro Bowl players on the board year after year after year, so the temptation is to ship the high picks for a proven player. But does it have to be a marquee player with most of his best years behind him, at top dollar? That's the kind of move meddling owners make that ends up sinking a franchise.

I'm persuaded that Beane misses early and hits late because he overrules his scouts on Day One and Two and relies heavily on their input Day Three. (This was the view of an ex-Bills official who worked with him.) For all his strong points as a GM, Beane seems to get excited by shiny things like Miller, or he makes a panic move after getting outmaneuvered, such as moving up for Elam. He's like a poker player who folds the best hand and shoves with a weak hand. Both his timing and judgment are off.

He's not going to do this, but a cold, objective analysis of his record should lead him to the conclusion that he needs to curb his ego on draft day and go with the board his scouts put together. Meanwhile, he should stay away from splash signings.

Make 2 trades. Metcalf amd. Defensive player. Draft almost all Defense (starting with powerful 1 tech DT) and we are good.

It depends on the details involved on why Bean didn't get it done. If other teams sign those guys for a Kings ransom I might be fine with it.

Many people on this board act as if there were not 31 other teams also vying for the services of the best. And all but a handful of them have more money to spend in doing so.
