I must have missed it, when did Trubisky take any meaningful stats for the Bills that you were able to determine this?

Minshew was mentioned as an improvement, funny when you look at their career stats, just about every one Trubisky is better than Minshew.  The only one stat Minshew was slightly better at was int % and it was 2.5 vs 2.0.  Everything else Trubisky was better for their careers.

You even say Trubisky may be able to win a game or two.  Why would any QB who views themselves better than being able to win a game or two want to even come to Buffalo when you know you have no chance of ever playing unless Allen gets hurt or its a blowout.  You'd go to NY or Cleveland where you know the starting QB is on shaky ground and could easily get benched at some point and you're now the starter.  Even if Allen had a horrendous game and Bills are getting blown out and was sat down by mid way through the 3rd quarter, the back up could come in and throw 5 TD' and lead the Bills to victory, but the next week Allen is starting if healthy.

This is a 1st world country problem you're bringing up and don't even know that it's a problem or that there's a better reasonable solution out there.

People saw him play in Pittsburgh and he was terrible.

I agree with the comment that if we lose Josh for any time the season is lost.  That said, I do think Mike White is a capable back-up and I would cut Trubisky for the cap savings.  Lastly, I would like to see the Bills take a QB in a later round every second year or so.  Develop him and try to turn him into a backup.

And yet the same "people" are saying Minshew would be an improvement, yet his stats were worse.  I think it's more a case the "people" i.e. posters are terrible at evaluating talent.  Two years ago these same people were claiming Brown to be a bust

I like the Riley Leonard idea, assuming Beane thinks he has higher upside than any of the backups we already have

Riley Leonard can run the ball similarly to the way Josh does.. Similar build, similar running style, good enough arm.

906 rushing yards and 17 TDs on the ground last year with Notre Dame..

To be honest, I don't think Beane seems to place a lot of value into the Backup QB's. I wouldn't mind a Minshew or backup of higher quality, but it always seems like they'd rather use that money or draft capital elsewhere rather than a higher rated backup or developmental QB in the draft. I wouldn't be surprised if they keep Mike White and cut Trubisky after 6/1.

I see it a bit different.  I think Beane/McD highly value QB2.  However, they seem to prioritize the traits that QB2 can provide week in/week out instead of a "break in case of emergency guy".  Film room, locker room presence, being "there" for Josh.  I think they value all of these things and place the ability of someone to support Josh and the offense over getting someone to replace Josh.

Whether Mitch is this guy next y at or they find someone different I believe they are still looking for a support role and not replacement role.

Completely disagree. If we're 9-1 and Josh goes down for four games the season is lost? I have no interest in developing a QB to be a backup, wasted draft pick imo. I want a veteran backup who can step in and win a game or two in a pinch. Wasn't that long ago that an underwhelming Barkley came in and unexpectedly lit up the Jets.

I think it’s time to draft one. If Allen goes down for the year it’s over, but it would be a huge mistake to not get us a guy that can keep our playoff hopes protected for 8 games or so or if we needed him for a critical game. Allen’s durability has been all time good, but so was Brady’s, until that one year when it wasn’t.

I'd rather see us draft a Josh Allen prototype QB. Not a big name but someone with some raw skill that we can stash on the PS for a couple years to develop.

That QB from Syracuse

I would send a 6th for Sam Howell. I just can't help but feel he could have a better than Darnold year in a new place....or give us a cheaper, better backup option.

If Pete Caroll had any brains , he would make him a Raider.

Sam Howell got sacked while you were writing this

I’d cut Trubinsky because him playing scares the heck out of me! He’s not a good QB.

Trubisky is about as close to Allen as you are going to get at backup. Big, strong, athletic.  He's had enough success in this league I think he can win 2 out of 4 games

Especially with the team around him. Take care of the ball, run cook and play good defense.

I thought Tyrod wasn’t retained by the Jests.  They should also draft a developmental guy with one of the 2 6th rd picks.  The other should be a kicker.  Just my two cents.

This would be perfect (sorry @GunnerBill). Tyrod and a developmental guy likely for the PS.

I am okay with Trubisky too. I’m not okay with Mike White.

Draft a QB and let the development process begin. It saves money, has zero impact on the Bills 2025 chances if Josh misses a game or two, and the rookie ‘could’ become some much more enticing trade bait in the near future.
