He will be 32 which is very on the border of past their prime for DT's and he's coming off a season where he was hurt (although he was very durable prior to 2024). I wouldn't hate it for a modest price but I think D.Jones is a solid veteran backup 1-Tech who this team already has under contract and the cap savings on cutting Jones is only 2 million so just on the cap it makes more sense to keep Jones and not sign Hargrave who will still cost some sort of moderate cap hit and might not present that much of an upgrade.

Need to seriously upgrade Jones. Luv him but..

If he can be healthy he can certainly play backup to the New Kid we are drafting

Jones needs to be a backup/rotational player not a starter anymore, no argument from me. But I think he can still be a productive player in a more limited role. There's not much in the way of cap savings by cutting him this year and he's an expiring contract so no need to worry about cap savings in 2026.

Thw Bills jhave what 4 defensive lineman under contract? They'll I think want 9 on the gameday roster

Defensive tackles under contract for 2025 are:  Daquan Jones (1 tech), Ed Oliver (3 tech), Dewayne Carter (3 tech) and Branson Deen (3 tech - a futures deal).   is still on his rookie deal.  While officially on the roster at the moment, these players will be gone when free agency begins:  Austin Johnson, Quinton Jefferson and Jordan Phillips.  Phillips has said he wants to re-sign with the Bills and would retire if the Bills don't want him.  While he is huge, his skill set is better suited to 3 tech.  If Daquan Jones isn't good enough any more, the Bills have nobody they would want to start at 1 tech.  Branson Deen is admittedly a scrub, but Carter may be able to develop into a decent rotational guy if he can stay healthy, and, of course, Oliver is a former first round pick who, while he had a down year in 2024, has shown flashes and might shine with quality players around him.

Oliver seriously has to have a bounce back season. Jones has been MIA most of the season. I would keep jones only as a backup and draft a couple of 1 tech DT’s and sign a cheap veteran who can fill the void until the rookies adjust to the NFL.
