I'd be happy with this if Slayton is available at the right price. I'm now seeing it written that the relatively shallow draft pool of WRs might raise FA WR prices, and that Slayton might be a lot more expensive than people are projecting right now.

CURRENT Lockett could still potentially add value, but would most likely mirror Emmanuel Sanders' 2021 season production/impact. Not totally spent, but only impactful in a few games. They'd be about the same age, coming off similarly productive FA seasons. Lockett's prime production IS more recent than Sanders' was when the Bills signed him, so who knows. But bringing in Lockett would have to be simply to fortify the BOTTOM of the WR depth chart on a team friendly deal. 

Lockett has been one of my favorite players to watch for a long time. Dude just makes plays, but this take is dead on. I'd support it, Lockett can still play. But this wouldn't be a hugely impactful move

I was about to say that Lofton was 33 and considered washed up when he landed in Buffalo, but then again, Lofton and TO were elite, HOF talents at their peak, something you can't say for Lockett.

As long as they bring back Hollins I don't care who else they get that dude was money and was a great fit with Josh, plus he brought some attitude to the ST's & the offense which sure didn't hurt !!

The free agent market for WRs is starting to look like a buyers market with player after player being added to the mix.  The question is will Beane lean toward proven veterans in the twilight of their careers, who might be an injury risk and will likely want substantial contracts, Stars in their prime who want to be paid like stars in their prime or younger guys with desirable traits that haven't produced as hoped for various reasons.  Then, of course, there are scrubs who can be picked up for a little bit of nothing.  One thing is certain: Beane is going to look over the market carefully.  He's got the cap dollars to make one or two splash signings, depending on the size of the splash.  My guess is he would rather spend the big bucks on defense.

Feels very Emanuel Sander-ish, which is fine. I still feel like Kupp is the guy. Maybe Palmer, but Lockett makes sense.

He’s a 50/50 guy. Moves around in the slot and flanker. I feel like he’s more of what they typically look for. Coleman X, Shakir slot, Kupp flanker and then you have Samuel moving around as well. Versatile and while he is on the downturn, I think he’d play well with Josh. He’s a great route runner, catches everything, blocks really well. 
 

All things being equal, I prefer him over most of what’s left, though the internet thinks he winds up in Jacksonville with Liam Coen. I do like Josh Palmer and Lockett as well.
