If you draft the positions like DE and WR well, you don't need to get into the high-stakes and costly UFA/trade market because those guys typically get re-signed.

Specifically at WR, draft the position more than those 2 RD2 picks in the span of 8 drafts rather than repeatedly banking on veterans UFAs/trades.  Boundary receivers that is, not slot types.

They've had plenty of chances to improve the WR group and somehow other priorities always were cited as evidence why they couldn't.  At DE, they've taken a LOT of swings and aside from Rousseau haven't done well.  Von was a good intention that didn't work.  Other than that, UFA DE's have been middling at best.

Beane gotta up his game on draft day.

I understand that. But even some of the best rookies don't start to come into form until year 2 and sometimes even year 3. A move like Garrett or Metcalf or the guy from Cincinnati can possibly be good enough, along with a solid draft class to get us there. You seem teams upgrade all the time. Look at the Eagles, they went and got Barkley. They have been one of the best drafting teams in the league for years

Honestly, I don't blame the guy (cold). If I had a choice I wouldn't pick cold either. Hopefully it's something we align on. That would be a huge bummer to miss on him for that reason.

Tyreek Hill picked Miami over New York, in part, due to taxes.

Northern teams are simply fighting upstream with certain players when even NYC & Boston area teams have to overpay based of stuff out of their control.

There are plenty of costs in the south that level out the income tax.

cost of insurance and property taxes for instance are absurd in the south and will only be rising in the future.

This is viewing the south as “Florida”

And with Florida, anyone given equal financials and living in Hoboken or Buffalo vs Miami or Tampa is choosing the latter unless we have a contender… something NE, and the NY teams currently do not.

I think Hendrickson is off the board for the Bills specifically.

To me, there’s no one in FA I’d rather give $30M to than DK.

I have to believe the LA teams are in the mix which is hard but we have the best QB. Depending on what DK is looking for for contract length, Buffalo may be his best shot to get paid AGAIN 3 years from now.

I will be extremely sad if he goes to KC. I’m not sure they can make the financials work but that will actually break me.

Im still in on DK, but I am just skeptical how realistic it will be if what’s reported is accurate is all.  So just bracing for the fact that neither him or Hendrickson may be really possible for us to land.  I have no doubt Beane is looking into both, but it takes more than just our interest to make it happen.

And don’t see cinci trading with us.

And it worked out great.  Came up just a little short team wise.

the bills are now a big physical running offense.  The fact that people still do not understand this is very confusing but then again it’s the same people who have been dying to give away number 1 and 2 picks for wr.

Metcalf is simply not going to be worth that contract.

Then let’s trade Josh for Purdy and 4 1st rounders.

A second rounder makes it more palatable.  The valuation is rich and he isn’t worth $30M AAV, but it’s manageable.  I also think that he will end up not costing $30M AAV unless he goes to a non contender.

Never know though, seems like a natural fit for the Chargers.

That’s pretty weird but sure man.  Definitely was the point I was making.

you can count me out on trading Allen.

The Chargers seem too perfect for this. But as somebody called out, Harbaugh isn't a WR focused HC.

If we are gonna play physical running offense and need a QB to throw for 3600 yards just to keep the chains moving, why not?

And it appears that Joe Brady isn’t either.  That’s my main trepidation with getting a high priced player at WR.

Diggs was having a really good year until Brady took over and both he and Gabe Davis production fell off a cliff.

And Amari couldn’t really get it going either.

I think it’s reasonable to assume that Brady’s offense doesn’t really feature boundary receivers.

If you trade for DK and Brady can’t get him involved, then fire Brady.

I doubt insurance is going to be anywhere the amount of taxes a rich athlete pays in a socialist state.

I’m sorry what kind of state?
