What's the leverage the players union have? You're going to have to find replacement players for already mediocre football players. 1 Quote

But the people that may have a major investment in the league stand to take a huge loss. Agree with their grievances or not this is the only power they really have to negotiate. They are still a bunch of rich dudes with connections who can move on to the next thing they want to. The players are normal people. They for sure have more to lose. Quote

Then there will be no base salary. That's the leverage. They have the league by the balls. Despite the jokes, the UFL did reasonably well in the ratings. Well enough that Fox wants to do it this year. You might have noticed the promos for the UFL during NFL games. Sure, they could maybe get worse players to play but that would absolutely kill the league. 1 Quote

Todd Schlopy is ditching his camera & getting his leg warmed up. Seriously, this indicates that most of these guys realize they have no hope of ever playing in the NFL because anyone who is playing in the UFL with hopes of impressing NFL scouts knows the last thing he needs is a strike. 1 Quote

There are 20 players in the NFL right now that played spring ball. Every year a hundred spring players at least get invited to an NFL camp. https://www.theufl.com/news/ufl-to-nfl-numbers-continue-to-make-a-significant-impact-in-the-nfl 1 Quote

So they should continue being exploited? (allegedly, I don't know the details, but I'm assuming their requests aren't ridiculous otherwise we would hear about how they're being outlandish with their requests instead of shut up and play it's better than flipping burgers) Quote

The least the league can do is keep your health insurance in force after the season. That's one of the issues. 1 1 Quote

They are lucky they get paid anything. Most people PAY to play sports. These guys are already guaranteed a minimum of $55k per year. That's not getting you rich, but for an upstart league making no money, it is decent. Quote

without a drought Posted Saturday at 05:11 AM Posted Saturday at 05:11 AM If this story never got out, they could have replaced the players and no one would have noticed. Maybe friends and family would notice, if they weren't lying about watching the games. Quote

Money is part off the issue, but health insurance coverage is a big thing. Imagine you get injured in a game late in the season and your heath coverage ends with the season? Your surgery and rehab is out of your pocket. That's BS. Quote
