Doc Brown Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Did not know that Russ Brandon was now president of the UFL. No wonder things aren't going swimmingly. What's the leverage the players union have? You're going to have to find replacement players for already mediocre football players. 1 Quote

Would anyone who watches these games even notice a difference in quality of play? Now, where did I put my cleats? 6 Quote

H2o Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Seriously though, if they strike the league will likely fold. Then there will be no base salary. 2 Quote
SirAndrew Posted Friday at 12:16 PM Posted Friday at 12:16 PM Russ Brandon shouldn’t be running an ice cream stand, but you can only fail down so far. 1 Quote
MJS Posted Friday at 01:23 PM Posted Friday at 01:23 PM All these guys would be working at Hobby Lobby and Burger King if the UFL folded... 1 Quote
WhitewalkerInPhilly Posted Friday at 01:34 PM Posted Friday at 01:34 PM I'm usually sympathetic to labor but I'm a little surprised. Things haven't exactly been rosy for the XFL, USFL, UFL and arena football. The USFL has managed to get to season 2? The USFL is sometimes the final shot for guys to break into the league and you've gotten a few people who do so every year. I have to think the players make more doing this than what they'd do otherwise. I'd be a lot more hesitant to pull the trigger until you know the USFL can stick around. 2 Quote

I mean yes and no, the players can still go through the routes of practice squads CFL arena teams and just moving on. But the people that may have a major investment in the league stand to take a huge loss. Agree with their grievances or not this is the only power they really have to negotiate. Quote
Mr. WEO Posted Friday at 02:30 PM Posted Friday at 02:30 PM this is the best part lol: "Playing it out, the UFL could hire replacement players. Which would diminish the quality of the product, but would result in games being played as scheduled." imagine trying to come up with an entire league roster of even worse pro football players? another pro league predictably bites the dust. Homey D. Clown Posted Friday at 03:28 PM Posted Friday at 03:28 PM Ohhh no! I'm going to really miss not watching the games! Quote

MikePJ76 Posted Friday at 05:05 PM Posted Friday at 05:05 PM The NFL PA Union should step in and offer help with this imo. They use this as a semi farm system, yes I know college football is the minor league system but this league develops players too. The league should be providing Health Insurance for the players, I mean come on. Salaries I understand a hard line stance from both sides because I imagine they are all operating at a loss or near it but health insurance should be a no brainer. 1 Quote
