I know Al Pacino was in that when he was like really young.

I remember reading him and Al didn’t get along the best.

let me know how it is

i ended up finishing it. I get why Hackman himself loved that movie, as his character is really interesting and complicated. But the movie itself is so-so.

on my same Hackman kick, I re-watched Mississippi burning. Probably haven’t seen that in 20 years. Just an absolute classic.

Up next for me is Unforgiven. Also a movie I probably haven’t seen in over 20

years.

My mother is 97 and she’s almost impossible to call. She won’t hear the ring or be able to answer in time. My sisters try at call but almost never get thru. Fortunately, she’s in a nursing home now with full time care so we no longer have to worry about her being on her own.

Having said that, I have absolutely no idea what happened in this situation. RIP

All we can do is speculate. The way it appears Mrs Hackman may have died from a possible heart attack while taking her meds. Mr Hackman could have died afterwards from a broken heart. Dog still in the pen/closet starved to death.

The door however being open doesn't really fit this scenario and may suggest one of them realized fresh air was needed.

I like a whole lot of Gene Hackman movies.  It'd be challenging to pick a Top 10.

A movie of his that always comes to mind is the Quick and the Dead.  He hammed it up as the bad guy in that movie and had some great lines.

“A Bridge Too Far” was a star studded cast. Just a great film and Gene was so young. “Behind Enemy Lines”…another great role for him.

Agree.

I think this is the most plausible scenario. Wife dies of a medical issue, trying to go for pills. Hackman goes for help quickly and falls and dies. Explains why the one dog wasn’t uncrated.

ABC News says that both Hackman and Wife were found negative for CO poisoning. Also Gene had a pacemaker and it's last event was on 2/17 so most likely day he died

CO2 is not poisonous. CO is.

Point of note.

RIP!!

One of my favorite actors. Very versatile. I told many people, he could go from a dad/grandfather like figure to an evil bad guy with a slight change of the expression on his face. He could do just about any role.

Well put, versatility is how I remember him.  Hero or villain, always compelling. RIP

I don't want to seem cruel or insensitive, but the guy was 95.........It should be of no great shock that he died at that age, by any circumstance.

Like, how much longer did anyone want for him to live?

5 years, maybe 6 or 7. Or was this a rhetorical question?

and what if the dog was a puppy?

Poor pupper. Such an odd part of the story if it was locked in a closet. Usually you might do that if someone is at the door and you’re trying to control it. Especially a German shepherd.
