I actually think he sounds a little more tense and and terse when answering the questions this go around. I think the pressure is on not from ownership but in delivering while Allen is still in his prime.  You know Sal M asked about Speed WR fully knowing that the Bills passed on the fastest one in Worthy to take Coleman and that trade will be tied to him justifiably or not much like the Mahomes trade will be tied to the Bills in 2017.

Ok… I didn’t get those vibes ..but he should be feeling some pressure now with JA going into Year 8… I heard a stat recently that Josh is the third oldest starting QB in the AFC now which was a little sobering ..
 

My gut feel is that he will roll the dice this offseason before the draft … they have some draft capital and will be cashed up when he makes his cuts and restructures

Honestly, I want a DT next to Oliver who can yes stop the run, but pressure up the middle. Pressure up the middle is what got to Brady and Mahomes both.  I am ok Extending Groot, but we need more help at the other DE spot.

Khalil Shakir - 6’0” 190 lbs                  Bases loaded Home run, for a slot WR. 

 

Gabe Davis - 6’2” 225 lbs 4.54          Good, if he had any consistency and stopped the drops, he would still be here.

Isaiah Hodgins - 6’3” 200 lbs 4.61     Crap

Justin Shorter - 6’4” 223 lbs 4.55      Crap

Keon Coleman - 6’3” 215 lbs 4.61      Yet to be decided.

 

 

Not great evaluation on his part. The flip side is he can flat nail it on most FA Additions.  

 

No disprespect bud...but that is missing a LOT Of context and the bolded is not really a fair statement...The only guys drafted to actually compete at WR were Davis, Shakir, and Coleman, all of which started for this team.  The rest were late round fliers for ST purposes or guys who could spend some time on the PS and potentially develop.  And that is because they had Diggs and found Davis early and were initially using vets like Brown and Sanders as Davis developed more even though Davis began contributing immediately as a rookie.

 

So really, Beane is 3 for 3 with a 4th TBD in Keon.  He sent a first for Diggs who exceeded expectations, turned a 4th rounder in Davis into a significant contributor and starter, and drafted Shakir to be the future of the slot.  If Keon hits, then he will be 4 of 4 when using draft capital to find starters for the offense at WR.  At no point were McCloud (who has made a nice littler career for himself), Proehl, Stevenson, Hodgins, or Shorter ever considered the future of the position, future starters, etc when they were drafted.  And every team has an exact list just like this of late round guys they took for the same reasons that also didn't do anything.

The Bills prior to Keon have not had a WR drafted in round 3 or higher in their entire time Beane has been the GM (2017 Zay Jones was not a Beane draft). So while if you put a pin in Keon as its too soon to tell on him (although his rookie year was promising but uneven) the Bills have managed to spend the following amount of draft picks at WR per round. 

 

1. Round 4- Gabe Davis
2. Round 5- Shakir and Shorter
3. Round 6- M. Stevenson, Hodgens, and McCloud, 
4. Round 7- Prohel

The Bills hit on Davis and Shakir (esp Shakir but Davis was productive) thus hitting on 2 out of 3 picks in rounds 4-5 which is a pretty good track record. The Bills missing on 4 picks in the last two rounds at WR is not really as damming evidence they don't know how to draft the position.

I hope Coleman doesn't become a head case like Sammy Watkins.  

 

I remember Sammy saying his first year that guys in the pros hit pretty hard and thinking even if its true you don't admit it.

 

Poyer's hit on Coleman was wicked (but clean). It sounds like Coleman may still be mentally bothered by that hit.
