Why wouldn't we release him to get Younger? This draft is loaded on the dline. Josiah Stewart for example in Rd 2 should be a great pick. Joyner the de from Minnesota in Rd 4-6 is intriguing etc

I would like to get younger too. That being said Miller would be good as a situational pass-rusher, and if he were to take a pay cut, it would definitely help our salary cap.

There's a lot of uncertainty with rookie players, and I really would like to get other players via trade than hope that rookies can have an instant impact.

Beane said Ron Rivera called him up and told him he was going to coach at the collegiate level. Sounded like the two were on good terms. Wasn’t Rivera HC of the Commanders the year JD McKissic reneged on the Bills and stayed with Washington?

Rivera is the last thing this team needs

....it better be a big one...at his age, snap count and production, we're just not getting the value anymore. We took a swing, we struck out.....It happens.....You move on and get younger.  I'm not paying a 36 year old "3rd down only" pass rusher 12-16M.  Draft DL and hope you hit on someone.  You know what you have with post ACL Von.  And it's not exciting.

I wanted Miller gone last year, I still am not convinced he is going to get cut.

Joe Buscaglia made a very good case for lowering his cap number with another pay cut since he will count against the cap anyway.

Nothing new - he got asked about acquiring speed.

And the Soup de Jour is how do you become the Eagles, but otherwise not anything noteworthy.

They want to keep Cook, seems like they will.

They have a price for Damar and if not he won’t be back it seems. I don’t think his market will be hot by any means.

We need an upgrade over him badly

I get it. At the same time, I don't want to count on rookies as replacements. That's too much of a risk.

I'm fine with bringing back Smoot, but he's more of a back-up. Javon Solomon has potential, but I don't expect him to be at a starter level just yet.

That's why I say we should try and get Myles Garrett or Maxx Crosby, and also try and get Jeffery Simmons or Dexter Lawrence. They are all still young enough to have significant careers with us.

All options should be on the table. If Von Miller is willing to take another pay cut, then I'm cool with that.

That wasn’t Rivera as much as it was management and potentially McKissics’ agent.  The then GM Martin Mayhew just “retired.”  Ironically Beane’s old mentor in Carolina Marty Hurney was working as an executive with Washington.

Possibly - but that would be two pay cuts in consecutive seasons.  Taking the first pay cut was very rare.  Some have speculated that Bills will do him a solid by keeping Von around this season.

I am with  you Brother, trade #30 as part of a trade for a veteran and Pray they can hit on DL and DB in the 2nd round.

Alright finally listened to the whole presser by Beane, considering he’s telling the truth which he does more of than McDermott.

- Sounds to me that they don’t believe that CB is as big of a priority as we think it is. Sounds like they may attack this position in Free Agency and then add a younger guy later in the draft

- Priority seems to be the Defensive line.  Whether that’s a trade or drafting multiple guys. Stated that they are looking at the bigger guys more so at Defensive Tackle than the smaller guys. Sounds like they want to get bigger and more physical up front.

- Don’t be surprised when they take a RB in the mid rounds again. Deep class plus the uncertainty of Cook in the future could lead to them taking a guy earlier than people think.

- As for Edge talked about base ends that can reduce down on passing downs more so than anything else. Sounds like guys like Shamar Stewart, Nic Scourton, Jordan Butch etc more than the James Pearce, Ezeriuaku of the world . Sounds like the Bills want to get much bigger on the defensive line this offseason

So are we to maybe assume that worthy wasn't a football player?  I guess maybe there a chance that Buffalo didn't think KC was taking him and thought we could get him later idk. who knows!

Beane has selected 8-WRs in his 7-seasons as Bills GM.

He definitely has a type:

Ray-Ray McCloud - 5’9” 190 lbs 4.53

Austin Proehl - 5’10” 175 lbs 4.41

Marquez Stevenson - 5’10” 180 lbs 4.48

Khalil Shakir - 6’0” 190 lbs 4.43

Gabe Davis - 6’2” 225 lbs 4.54

Isaiah Hodgins - 6’3” 200 lbs 4.61

Justin Shorter - 6’4” 223 lbs 4.55

Keon Coleman - 6’3” 215 lbs 4.61

Pretty distinct draft profile.

And to add to your post is how McDermott talked about Power. We need more size and Strength combined with the Quickness and speed.  We need a Bigger DT next to Oilver and depth past that. We must get a DE that can produce consistent pressure.

Honestly, I want a DT next to Oliver who can yes stop the run, but pressure up the middle. Pressure up the middle is what got to Brady and Mahomes both.  I am ok Extending Groot, but we need more help at the other DE spot.

Ray-Ray McCloud - 5’9” 190 lbs        Crap

Austin Proehl - 5’10” 175 lbs               Crap

Marquez Stevenson - 5’10” 180 lbs    Crap

Khalil Shakir - 6’0” 190 lbs                  Bases loaded Home run, for a slot WR.

Gabe Davis - 6’2” 225 lbs 4.54          Good, if he had any consistency and stopped the drops, he would still be here.

Isaiah Hodgins - 6’3” 200 lbs 4.61     Crap

Justin Shorter - 6’4” 223 lbs 4.55      Crap

Keon Coleman - 6’3” 215 lbs 4.61      Yet to be decided.

Not great evaluation on his part. The flip side is he can flat nail it on most FA Additions.

I will disagree only on McCloud. For a 6th round pick he’s had a nice little career going. Not with the Bills of course but he’s still chugging along and in a WR rotation as well as a returner

He should be released honestly , sorry Von.  And brought back in as a pass rush assistant. They liked him as a mentor all along.

I’m not advocating but another paycut would allow them to save money on the cap this year while cutting him next year is much more palatable on the dead cap.  He did slice his salary by 50% last year so getting back down to that 8-9 million number initially saves the Bills like 12-14 million

Nah that’s Beane essentially saying we’ll have him back for the right price coupled with McDermott saying Bishop ideally is the starter

I retract my comment

 thanks gonzo1105

Agree. They sure as hell aren't drafting a guy who is 6'1".

Coleman aside as he is TBD, hitting on two of seven of these mid to late round picks is actually not bad. Most 4th+ round receivers do not work out in the NFL.

Hence the reason Beane said Sal M asks him every year are you going to finally draft some speed?

We have 4.46 at 5’10” and 4.57 at 6’3” - no way have they prioritized speed as a selection component.
