Commanders DT Johnathan Allen Released.

He was coming off a pretty big injury and missed most of the season.  He's 30 years old, definitely another option to consider.

FWIW:

 

Allen came back for the playoffs and recorded 10 pressures and 8 QB hurries with one sack in the playoffs. He was also very solid vs the run. Was borderline dominant against the Lions. 

 

This guy instantly upgrades our IDL...and doesn't count against the comp pick formula. No draft assets have to be used to acquire. Would help keep Bernard clean. Locker room leader type. Would be a VERY solid signing.

Was a partially torn pectoral muscle and he came back for the playoffs in excellent fashion. Looked like he's at full health.

I forgot about Trent Murphy. What an awful signing that was. Settle wasn't any better. But Beane hit on Floyd and Dequan. It's like throwing darts at a board.

The is the number one option for the Bills.  Over any DE out there even through trade.

 

This is the guy that is so desperately needed on this team and wouldnt cost any assets.

Well, they draft extremely well.  People act like they "bought" their DL, some they did, but it was drafting those monsters inside that made the difference this season.  How'd Philly do LY btw?

 

With a draft loaded with DL talent, this is not the time to be "buying" vets/trading for a $16m salary.

 

Why is Washington trading him?  Another contender coming off a NFCCG loss?  

I would agree with you if Beane showed he can identify talent on the Dline in the draft but obviously that's not the case. We should trade for a Ace Edge player like Trey or Garrett no matter the cost

I can see us trading for DL and signing one as a FA- but considering this draft class-  I expect one stud via FA/trade and one draft pick followed up with some Smoot/JP like deals for vets

Give me Dexter, Darren Reed, and a draft pick at DT  to go with Carter and ED. Sign BPA DE when doable.  Then sign Reddick to a 2 yr. deal. We lose pick 30 but be badass.

Have to think that Reddick will get a long term deal somewhere.  He won't need to sign a 2 year.

if Carter gives them pause to pursuing a player of this calibur then that’s a big mistake

 

Carter is a depth player until/if ever proven otherwise

 

& unless I’m mistaken, Allen is very good playing 3T or 1T
