Alphadawg7 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I mean if you listen to the interview and not just read the carefully plucked statements to drive engagement, you will see that the comments aren't nearly the damning comments they are being made out to be. I mean he is just being straight about what Keon's rookie season was. There were some great things we saw, and there were some moments we all know Keon would love to have back. And he obviously didn't get back to where he was after the injury, so McD isn't saying anything that Keon and everyone already doesn't know. End of the day, he was a rookie on a team whose leading receiver had less than 900 yards and he still managed to put up 556 yards, avg 19.2 yards per catch for a guy that everyone here said was too slow to be a big play threat, and this was despite missing 4 games due to injury. There is plenty to still be optimistic of with Keon, he showed more good than bad as a rookie, and like McD said, its on him in terms of how well and fast he continues to develop. 4 3 Quote

I would love to hear their answer to that. We didn't necessarily just "flush it down the toilet". Granted, the benefit we got from him this year was negligible & he may quite possibly sign elsewhere. But, if he does... depending on what we do elsewhere WRT Free Agent signings & losses, we may very well be entitled to compensation if he signs elsewhere. Doubtful it'll be a 3rd round, but if it's a 4th you got a contributor for a fraction of a season which served as a "tryout" for next season (I don't think you should discount this benefit) tghat seems like a worthwhile trade, even if the compensatory pick is delayed a year. Have you heard McD be so critical of a rookie player before? I haven’t that I can recall. I’m not sure he even said stuff like this about Elam. Quote
3rdand12 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Most of the Defense were healthy come playoffs finally. The WRs Beane brought in ? not so much. it was a real issue. Not an excuse , but a sincere factor 1 Quote

Watch the buffalo plus video I posted here, he says the same things about coleman again to Mike Catalana. Then the guys explain how he said the same thing about Cole Bishop. They also point out that this is the organization motivating these guys to go and work their tails off and to show up ready to go in a few months. And I think that is all it is. Dan Fetes points out very nicely that Terrell Bernard went and worked his tail off after his rookie season and came back ready to go. That is what McDermott and Beane are talking about here. It won't stop the we need a number 1 WR guys from using this as another reason to complain though. 1 4 Quote

They are clearly not happy with how he handled and came back from the injury. Pretty concerning. Well they scouted him. They apparently thought he was the right guy,a process guy. To me this is another knock on Beane amd his scouting department. Get it together already! 1 Quote

Coleman was “healthy” by the end of the year, and struggled to commit on contested catches and lacked physicality. cooper caught his targets even when he was wearing a brace and nursing a continued injury. thats why the comments are different Quote

I hope they resign smoot. 1 Quote

I mean both McD and Beane made comments about Kincaid too, who is just a 2nd year player. The difference is, Keon is a much higher profile player than most rookies because of 3 factors, so it gets more attention: He was the first real addition to replace Diggs (and Davis) in the same season and came with high expectations because of it He was our first pick in the draft making him our highest profile rookie, and a controversial pick at that given we traded back before we took him and didn't take some other guys some thought we might take He immediately became a media darling out the gate, so he garners a lot of attention because of his charismatic personality and funny sound bites So when a coach or GM talks about him, its going to get noticed more and even more over analyzed. 6 minutes ago, MikePJ76 said: Watch the buffalo plus video I posted here, he says the same things about coleman again to Mike Catalana. The only thing that pushes him to this is when a player is lacking 'Bills DNA' and needs a wake up call. We are going to start hearing chatter about how he wasn't being a 'pro' and needs to take things more seriously. Hopefully he responds accordingly. Edited 4 hours ago by DrMaxPower Quote

This was a big effort to support Josh. The Oline worked out well I might suggest WR s did not. What if those 3 were fully healthy end of regular season ? Thanks for pointing out Carter and Smoot. JakeFrommStateFarm Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Coleman can only do so much because he's slow Quote
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago To me, what was disappointing was Coleman just wasn’t as big and physical as advertised. I get that he doesn’t have the speed or separation. But he was supposed to be a big physical jump ball guy. Seeing Trent McDuffie (who is like 6 inches shorter and 20 pounds lighter) just manhandle and out-physical him in the AFCCG was not great. 1 Quote
