But what about when they brought the big fish Von in?  I'm talking with the unhurt version right of Von right out of the gate.  Didn't he start by making his presence felt in the first game, against the Rams?  The Bills were Superbowl favorites.  Lets replicate that with Garrett as the new piece.

I stated “maximizing” potential, I said nothing that can be construed as him having no effect…,

I think the Bills will definitely do their due diligence in trying to get Myles Garrett but with that being said, 31 other teams are doing the same and most of them have higher draft picks than ours. What we might be able to offer them that other teams can't is an 8 sack a year DE in Greg Rousseau so we may be able to pull it off. I'm pretty sure a 1st 2025, 1st 2026, 2nd 2025 and Greg Rousseau with a pick coming back to us is about what it would take imo. It's a steep price but it's not everyday a future 1st ballot hall of famer falls into your lap. when they do you do what you have to do.

Maxx Crosby's name keeps coming up but nowhere do i see that he has demanded or is demanding a trade but I did see the interview with Kay Adams with him talking about how excited he is to work with his new HC in Pete Carrol so I think this is either manufactured or maybe it's a calm before the storm I don't know.

I would like to keep Rousseau.  More like give 1st in 25, 1st in 26, 2nd in 25, 4th in 25, along with J Cook + AJE + Elam for Garrett and Newsome and a 3rd and 5th coming back.  Something huge like that.

I think Maxx is in play, he is just handling it intelligently.  He is allowing the Raiders to get good value for him and keep a good relationship with the fans.

Yeah it would be ideal to keep Rousseau that’s why I said 29 other teams could offer a better pick combo since we’re drafting at 30. Rousseau might be the piece that would entice the Browns more than other teams.

You could be right on Crosby we’ll have to see what have to see what happens.

I think you bolded the wrong part. Here is the point:

”and if you are for it now you can’t change your mind if he gets hurt. That is my point. I’ve seen this crowd in action. It’s not always rational thoughts, and too often unwarranted emotional reactions.”

Fair enough.

For the record, I liked Beane’s move to get Von a few years ago. And it was working out great before the injury. I don't begrudge Beane’s move so I guess you're talking to another camp.

That said, Garrett is a lower injury risk.

I don't think the Bengals would trade us Hendrickson as I'd think they'd find that we're in the path of them for the SB, unless we were massively overpaying I don't see where it would make much sense for them unless they thought he was washed up which he clearly wasn't.

Even as dumb as Jerry Jones is at times with his moves, I would highly doubt they get rid of his best pass rusher and one of the leagues best young edge rushers in the NFL. I would think the cost would be even more than Garret's price tag. He had his lowest sack total of the year with 12 sacks and he did that while only playing in 13 games this past year (freaking unreal this kid is). I don't think he'll be leaving the Cowboys anytime soon.

If they cannot get Garrett I'm going to guess they sign FS Jevon Holland to replace Damar Hamlin. I also think we'll be playing more man coverage so they'll be looking to replace rasul Douglas and I think Carlton Davis would be a solid choice.

I don't think they'll add a pass rusher in free agency if we can't land 1 of the big fish in a trade. This draft class is one of the better for pass rushers but our track record selecting defensive line is pretty brutal so far but maybe we'll land 1 if even by accident.

Agree, especially the BUT.  First off Cleveland keeps saying they are not trading him.  IF they are forced to it won't be easy for them.

The recent news is they are going to designate Thornhill and Tomlinson as Post June 1st cuts.  That means both their cap hits will stay on the

books until then.  Then it free up $10M which goes a long way in the $14M dead cap a Garrett Post June 1st trade would create.

It seems to me IF Cleveland thinks they will trade Garrett before June 1 they would be sending out the word NOW (or at least by the Combine) later

this week.  If we don't hear about it soon, I don't see them able to swing the trade until AFTER JUNE 1st.

The Browns already have some good draft picks this year.  Trading for 2026/2027 picks would really help them in the long run.

IF this was to happen, I think it would help Beane and the Bills a lot.  Use this year's picks and THEN do the trade for Garrett.

I alluded to him being used like every other new acquisition we have brought in and not made changes to the scheme to best effect, to capitalize on his presence on the line, our zone is the softest of coverage, did you not see teams march down the field taking what our soft zone gave away?

They have yet to make changes thus far,

They have yet to have a game wrecking pass rusher except for the 2022 season before Von got hurt  ... and during that period, McDermott certainly managed to maximize Von's effectiveness.  They also had Tre White, Micah Hyde, and Jordan Poyer in the defensive backfield for a while (only 2 games for Hyde).

I think that McDermott has run the scheme he ran in 2023 and 2024 trying to minimize the deficiencies on the DL and in the defensive backfield caused by the injuries to Hyde, White, and Miller (all of whom never came back as good as they had been) and the decline of Poyer's skills in 2023.

It’s both that is needed, eight years my friend, change is now a requirement, I believe most realize this,
