I’ve been fortunate being able to watch major league sports in its purest form. Today’s games are clearly distinguishable from what they were not so long ago.

I agree ! It seems to be getting worse with every decision that Roger dreams up !

 

They are doing the same thing to the NFL that they did to Nascar it won't be long and it will be just like that to where the stands use to be full of fans to go to being spotty and out sourced to different countries .

Scoring is fine. They are going to push it to where 60-55 games happen regularly. 

 

I further hate the expansion of foreign games. 

 

Officiating is terrible. New kick off is worthless. Strong dislike of the new draft format and expansion of season. 

 

Goodell has been a bad Commissioner.

The league wants to excitement of what a kick return can bring but the NFLPA doesn't want to put it's players in harms way of concussions etc.

This makes no sense.  They say they want to reduce contact.  But with this rule change they want to encourage more retruns.

Touchbacks need to be consistent for kick-offs and punts. They shouldn't have different placements for each. They also need to address the on-sides kick rules. Having it as an option only in the 4th quarter and having to declare your intentions in advance make this option practically insignificant in today's game.

I think they have it wrong, move it back big time to the 20 on the touchback but move the kick-offs 5 to 10 yards back.

To get more scoring, for a touch back put the ball at the 50 and give the receiving team 2 points. Along with eliminating blitzing, limiting the defense to only 9 players, and putting boxing gloves on their hands so they can't grab or tackle any offensive player with the ball.

Go back to the way they used to do kickoffs. College football still uses normal kickoffs unlike the NFL which does this BS kickoff stuff.

Completely agree. Either i stop when the  Bills win a superbowl or when Josh Allen isn’t playing  for the Bills anymore. 

I honestly am over it, if we were still in the doldrums, I would have quit watching about 3 years ago.  The sad part is, I watch without really getting into it anymore bc I just wait for the refs to reverse whatever the league doesn’t want.

Lovebthe Bills always have but they have ruined the NFL. Its not the same game anymore and is a fall worse game to watch. Thankfully we have Josh Allen to watch for hopefully another 8-10 years.

Again, this is why Goodell is paid so much money by Terry and Jerry et al. 

 

Anyway, Goodell doesn't sit on the Competition Committee, but McD does.  Message him that he is ruining the game...

They didnt want them they way they were, last year they overhauled it with the landing zone with the stated goal of wanting more returns.  Most teams opted to take the 30 yard line.

they want the kickoff to be a competitive play instead of a pointless formality 

 

I like it. It penalizes teams for just kicking into the end zone and not allowing special teams players to impact the game

Only up to the point of over saturation to much of any one thing can be to much, then mix in some real stupidity when it comes to rules changes and just like Nascar which at one point was all the rage it could go down .

 

The NBA has suffered for the same thing, right after the NBA Championships they go right into a summer league, which the NFL now has a rival that plays in the summer .

 

Sure you'll have your die hards that live for it but if they expand over seas and have say 40 some teams or how ever many Roger is dreaming of IMHO it will eventually get to the over saturation point because people will know if they miss a game there will be another .

Touchbacks in the XFL (the league that invested this type of kickoff) went to the 40 to discourage touchbacks.

People have been predicting the collapse of the NFL for 20 years.  Their business model of bringing it to a wider audience has been wildly and ever more successful, proving all the doubters wrong over and over...

 

 

NASCAR's base appeal was always, let's say, VERY regional.  The wider public watched for a hot minute, got bored (predictably) and walked away.  

 

The NFL is running away with all the viewers while the NBA and MLB inch towards the NHL in insignificance.
