Do you see trump or gun toting “Christian “ nationalists loving their enemies?

Nope.  Peter was supposed to put down the sword.  As it happens, MAGA thinks it was so he could pick up an AR-15.

To state the obvious, there is no loving your neighbor on this forum from either side.

There is no moral high ground to be justifiably claimed.

Either way, I gave up Catholicism because of the inconsistencies in that theology vs. Biblical , and the Pope was was of about three reasons.

I wish him and Catholics well.

I have not agreed with everything Francis has done as Pope. Sometimes it is too "conservative" for me; sometimes too "liberal."

But I have no reason to think anything other than that he is a fine man who understands the gravity of his position and tries to do his best to navigate a troubled world and an unwieldy Church bureaucracy.

Conclave is getting a lot of Oscar buzz. It is a fine film (until a rather silly/preposterous ending) that is well worth watching. So too The Two Popes, an unusually serious examination of Benedict and Francis and why they had very differing views of the direction of the Church in the 21st century despite both being, at their cores, decent and committed men.

I see some of your fellow lefty Catholics approve of your response regarding the murder of ICE agents. Sick. @The Frankish Reich thoughts?

I don't understand this comment.

I said of course I disagree with anyone who thinks attacking federal agents is acceptable. Some people agreed. Good.

Does that satisfy your weird obsession?

Believing, rightfully, that the idea of murder being celebrated by some that wear their Catholicism on their sleeves is repugnant, now qualifies as a weird obsession. Crazy times.

They apparently agreed with me when I said that targeting federal agents was repugnant.

But keep flogging that dead horse!

You’re completely wrong. A living example of Christ’s teachings and I say this as a cradle Catholic…

Spare me, please.

You're a Biden / Pelosi Catholic in my book. A net negative at best - and that's being generous. And I say this as someone who has a long list of faults and is under no illusion as to his own shortcomings.

JPII would be turning in his grave listening to this guy beat down on his traditional worshippers, whilst wondering "what were my colleagues thinking?".

Yes, the hypocrisy is truly staggering.

It will be a cold day in hell before I take my moral cues from the likes of them.

I was one of two people that agreed with you, the other being the disingenuous Redhawk. He also agreed with Roundy’s most recent post trying to justify his stance that murder of ICE agents is acceptable. He also recently declared the pope agreed with him on the matter. Sick.

Part of your thing here is to take ridiculous positions in defense of the reliable mainstream media and democrat politicians. Part of mine is to keep flogging certain ridiculous positions - think “mentally fit”, Susan Collins, and now “very pleased” to see some ICE agents offed.

OK, unlike you I don't track these things.

So I hope you're sitting down ... I DISAGREE with Fergiefan/Redhawk.

There. I said it. And it wasn't hard to say. It's not like we're Team Frankish here and I dare not disagree with those ostensibly on "my side."

You should try that with our Tarheel friend, or the execrable white nationalist who rears his head from time to time. It's liberating.

No loving thy neighbor on this forum? I don't think that is true, sure we poke and prod and goad each other but when it comes right down to it I think we all wish well for the folks in here no matter their politics. At least I do.

Tarheel is fine. The other guy is a creep.

If you need the backstory, long ago I posted that, so long as ICE decided to keep targeting families, there was a good chance they’d run into a Luigi Mangione or two.

JDHillFan has since morphed that into me supporting every ICE agent being murdered.

I never defended the murder of anyone.

Why lie? Your post:

Im going to be very pleased when ICE runs into a few Luigi Mangiones among the families

Repulsive comment that you have now tried to soften several times. Rather than make yourself look like a Redhawk with the disingenuousness, just say it was an awful comment that you shouldn’t have made.

Roundy defended his repellent stance by quoting scripture about vengeance. You liked the post. Not surprised that you didn’t know what you were doing. It’s expected from you.

I’m not softening anything. So long as ICE keeps attacking families and children, there’s a good chance they’ll run into someone looking to fight back. I won’t be upset by this as I think ICE raids are disgusting, immoral acts.

I was being generous by saying that you were softening your words. In reality you have just lied several about what you said. I can only imagine it’s becausewhat you said is so disgusting. You had your say a month ago. You will be “very pleased”. Those are your words.
