Does Jimmy G get another crack at a starting job

Kelly Stafford is "a lot" but let's be real...

Stafford is going to be 37 next year, and the ROI the Rams have gotten from him since the Superbowl have been "meh".  It's not that he's played badly - not at all - but the year they won the Superbowl, he passed for 41 TDs and 287 ypg.  Doesn't look as though he's gonna return to that performance.

If Stafford were still lighting it up, his wife could be yattering on Social Media all she wants

I played a bit with Spotrac and I think the Rams only save about $4M if they trade Stafford.

O I agree that’s not the sole reason. I mean it’s a pretty big drop off still unless their aim is to get another vet. Jimmy G ain’t it and who knows if they sign someone like Darnold if he doesn’t regress. Jaxson Dart won’t be ready but they must like someone and confident to get them if their willing to let Stafford go

Ok, so hear me out. Josh Allen and our next 2 first round picks for Matthew Stafford.

He is a Super Bowl inning QB. Josh can’t even get us to the Super Bowl. Enough said.

(PSA - This is not a serious post, humor is my intent. My apologies if done poorly.)

As long as you said "so hear me out..." lol

He would make a good backup QB, LOL,

Way too expensive, both in what it would cost to trade for him, and what his salary would be.

Trading Stafford makes no sense from the Rams perspective.  They were nearly in the SB last year, and will return a very good team even without Kupp.  Nacua is the real deal. So they should be looking to win, now, not in a few years when someone new figures out how to play QB.  Stafford is still a very good QB.

Kirk Cousins IMO is a big step down from Stafford.

Especially how he looked in 2024. If he is healthier a further year removed from the achillies, fine, but yea it is voluntarily downgrading at Quarterback without any obvious play for how you then upgrade again.

I said the same when the Raiders did it with Carr... it is never a good idea. If you can get someone broadly equivalent for cheaper, fine. If you plan to tank, fine (this Rams team is way too good for that). But just willfully going from a tier B Quarteback to a tier C guy for no good reason? Yea that's odd.

Could be but if McVay feels he is an upgrade and is on the same page as Cousins could be interesting to see if they can replicate what they did in Washington, even though that was a long tome ago.

I'm not real sure why the Rams would want to get rid of him he is still a good QB one of which that i personally have always liked, I hated that he was stuck in Detroit . Now being a SB winning QB and still viable why not get a younger draft pick at the position to learn under Stafford like the Packers did with Love .

The youngster can learn the scheme and they can bring him along, if Stafford does get dinged put the rookie in to get some playing time to get use to game speed while getting more understanding of the offense, it just makes a bit more sense going into the future JMHO .

All that said it maybe different due to the amount of money Stafford is owed .

I like Stafford he's a very good QB, top 10 in the league in my opinion. He will be 37 coming into this season so he's on the older side but not at an age where QB's don't produce at a very high level either. I do not understand why the Rams are very eager to move on from him. The Rams have a good opportunity to give him a 2-3 year extension on his contract and then draft a QB in round 2-3 and have an heir apparent who can sit for 2-3 years while Stafford keeps them very competitive.

Just doesn't make much sense for the Rams to move on. But any team trading for him will be getting a very good QB.

Yeah, but their QB position needs fixin’ and Tomlin is up the crick if they don’t.

I really think they are going to go after Kirk Cousins and pair him back up with McVay. They had success in Washington and are close.

Kirk from a few years ago, sure.

This version's arm is cooked.  Midway through the season he had no steam on his throws.  Don't know if that's achilles related or not?

Has she ever said anything about the time her brother left the Bills?

It sounds like a perfect fit for the J.E.T.S. to replace their 41-year-old QB.
