Bosa is certainly an option at the right price. They can’t count on him though with his injury history. He would have to be, at the right price, and in addition to whatever other moves they make to upgrade the pass rush.

When is the last time this Bosa looked like a top tier player?

I cannot recall that, but unless it is mega cheap, and a contract that is instead laden with incentives, no thanks.

One of the most over paid players in the NFL right now.

He’s being cut so there is no contract that a team will be absorbing.

Agreed.  He has the talent to be the final piece.  Sign him to a 1 year incentive based deal.

Given his injury history where do you think a one year deal would land?  Under 20 or even Leonard Floyd type cheap (relatively speaking)?

Great question. My guess is $10Mish with incentives. He probably needs to sign a prove it deal for a year. I think Leonard Floydish is the answer.

Some guys wait to get a longer term deal and then settle on a short deal like Floyd did with the Bills. I think Bosa would be smart to take a short deal whenever (assuming he’s healthy). He’s better off betting on himself for a year at $10M than signing like a 3 year $33M deal with a little more guaranteed. If he’s healthy for a year he may make $25m+ a year from now.

I’m sure he’d get along very well with a handful of current/one former player.

I would personally rather see the Bills go 0-17, myself.

Not sure exactly what you're getting at, but on the surface this is as bad a take as the poster a few years ago who preferred Josh throwing for 300 yards over the Bills winning.

When even the OSU boys are lukewarm on a player like this, I think the smart move is to pass.

what did this bosa do that was so bad?

I'd be happy if he came here on a prove it deal, like a one year thing.  if we get garrett, we'd have a shocking shocking line that could destroy our enemies.

garrett, oliver, groot, bosa, oliver is the smallest guy there.  nobody having a good day facing that.

Given his cap hit and dead cap could we lure Bosa from the Chargers?  I'm too lazy to do the leg work so I'm hoping people debate it for me.

First of all, there's talk of them straight up cutting him - https://www.profootballrumors.com/2025/02/chargers-expected-to-move-on-from-joey-bosa

And given his injury history, if Bosa is something you'd be looking at - you might as well just sign his partner the last few years in Khalil Mack. A few years older, but a cleaner injury history and an equal or greater impact.

His injury history is a huge factor but he’s also just 29.  Mack is 34 years old.  That is a huge difference in NFL years.  Bosa might still be able to give you an All Pro type year.  Bosa on a prove it deal and a trade up for a stud DT in round 1 could transform the D Line and still give McBeane the ability tj sign a good CB in free agency.

It would be a big addition but he's injury prone. So we would need a viable plan b.

I don’t love really expensive guys who get hurt a lot. Can we bubble wrap him until the playoffs? Is he a wise investment/gamble? I’m all for getting difference makers, but we need to be wise.  I didn’t hate the move to sign Von, but that was the risk we took. Things might be very different around here had he not torn up his knee again.

I’m not sweating it since I have no control over it, but I sure am excited to see what our offseason looks like. We just need a couple guys to bust thru and start taking over games with a play here and a play there, just when you need it. That could also be someone who is already on our roster, like maybe a Solomon kind of guy. I’m not sure why I’m so intrigued by him.   🤷‍♂️

Remove the really expensive guy part and how do you feel about it?  The age/injury history is a legit concern but everything points to him getting paid Leonard Floyd type money which is probably half or less than what we will pay Groot.  On a one year deal there is little to no concern for dead cap.  The focus would be on winning that year and could he stay healthy.

Id consider him on a Floyd type deal 8 million for a 1 year prove it deal. I think this is what will happen but might be 12-15 .

Bosa is an oft injured waste of time and money. He’s outlived his productive time but he still is expensive. He’s just a bad fit for us.

Not sure if expensive yet. We shall see.
