Given his cap hit and dead cap could we lure Bosa from the Chargers?  I'm too lazy to do the leg work so I'm hoping people debate it for me.

It would be a big addition but he's injury prone. So we would need a viable plan b.

I was looking at the numbers and thought it made sense but honestly it was hurting my brain trying to figure out all the angles.  Looks like his cap is so big the Chargers would see a ton of relief getting rid of him.  I agree he's been nicked but if he had a one year mercenary deal to get us over the hump he might be the man if he could stay healthy.

He has more games missed than sacks over the last 3 years. I really hope we steer clear.

FWIW, If he's let go I think the Cowboys push hard for him. I remember the year he was drafted Jerry Jones LOVED the dude. The rumor I remember is that he was set to pick him and even tried moving up but the Rams and Eagles at 1&2 wouldn't budge (they both needed QBs and went Goff/Wentz) and Chargers took Bosa one slot ahead of Dallas at 3. Leaving the Cowboys to draft E. Elliot as a consolation at 4.

5 sacks in 14 games last season. That makes him a cut candidate at his price. So it would make sense to wait and see what happens by 3/12 when he has a huge roster bonus due. He’ll either rework his contract because he wants to stay in LA or they’ll cut him loose.

Do I want him here? He’s going into his age 30 season and has a concerning injury history so it would have to be on a heavily incentivized contract. Maybe he wants to chase a ring and we give him his best shot at that. That’s about the only way I see it working out. No way do I trade for him on his current contract.

He will find a suitor here who will gladly do the research and provide a long write up. There are some great opinions on here.

Speaking of Dallas, bosa is zekes former roomate.  He is an off the field party guy just like zeke.  The two of them blamed another roomate for their troubles to not affect their draft position.

I wouldn't want Bosa at any price.  Rarely plays, football doesn't seem all that important to him and is a party guy.

probably wouldn't consider buffalo because of those reasons anyway.

Is the juice worth the squeeze?  His cap hit makes me think the Chargers will want to take the one year out.  I know he's had injuries but he potentially could be an even better pass rusher than Von was when we signed him, if he's healthy.  I wouldn't do anything more than a one year deal.  Is the risk worth the potential?  The guy was a monster earlier in his career what are the chances he has one more season of that?

Didn't know any of this. Not a plus.  Too bad really when he's healthy and playing well he's a difference maker.

Is Bosa really any better than what we’ve been getting from Miller? Bosa can’t stay healthy and no way would I want to over spend on Bosa. Instead how about we hit in the draft!

I can't argue against that.  That said if he's a FA and the price was right would it be worth the risk?  Do we hit in the draft at pick 30?   I'm guessing that's a DT or safety.  I'm still all for packaging a couple firsts and trying to get Garrett.  If I had to guess I do think Bosa (if healthy) could be better than Miller has been the last two seasons.

That’s the big question - what’s he got left? At the right price and paired with a draft pick in the first or second round I’d be on board. Draft pick, Bosa, Rousseau, Epenesa and Solomon is a solid DE group. That draft pick has to be of the twitchy, bendy, speed rusher type though.

It's unfortunate but those are the questions.  If he's been injured can he come back healthy, and does he want to be out there fighting to win?  If he's got bad habits off the field and the Chargers fan base thinks he's soft it doesn't give you a good feeling about acquiring his services.  On paper (or on your laptop) the numbers might say if he's healthy take a swing but often there's more to the story.

no, too risky too expensive, we likely have the same production and issue/risk with Von already, provided he takes a pay cut...

But

if Von doesnt take the pay cut and gets released, and they dont get Miles Garrett in a trade, then we are down to considering options like this..

But if we cut Von we cant spend the cap savings until June (post June designation - spreads the $15M dead cap over 2 seasons) , there will be more cuts like Bosa coming...

in other words,,,stay tuned... while March 12 is the first day of new NFL year..its the start not the end

Often injured players are not what a team wants to base their hopes on, how old is he, and does he have the game in and game out juice to go an entire season and post season…? The answer is likely no,
