I wouldn't hate brining him back. I am going to assume Elam is gone either cut or traded. If you look at the depth at corner it is pretty thin. Assuming the Bills resign Douglas or get a proven option to replace him the corner back room sans Elam is like this.

  1. Benford
  2. Johnson
  3. Douglas (or his replacement)
  4. Cam Lewis
  5. Ingram
  6. Codrington
  7. Daequon Hardy

Codrington is more of a return specialist so really your options assuming the Bills are going to carry 6 corners your depth corners are Cam Lewis whose decent depth and Ingram whose a marginal player. Brining in Dane a proven guy in the system whose 29 years old next season isn't a bad option to push Ingram for a spot.

No

Dane is a best a decent back up , and mostly because of some familiarity with the program.

Not an improvement. a stop gap and back up.
No offense dude I loved ya as a Bill rookie !

We need a serious effort across from Benford . and who is not named bringing back Douglas.          😂 cuz he's familiar

Who of that list is challenging to be a starter ?

 Hardy ? Ingram ?

Lewis has his ceiling , love the Boy

As you mentioned Codrinton has his spot for this season most likely. But as returner.

Douglas best be done here. Was fun for awhile

Where's my next starter ? and its important to me   :)

Are you now “back” after checking out from the KC game?

I'm easing back in.  Still hurts to be honest.  Definitely not ready for the draft or off-season hype.  Hopefully FA wakes me up.

A lot of team have tons of money.  It's going to be interesting.

Also, my Josh could leave us page is really trolling hard.  I'm loving every second of it 😜

He's not being signed to be anything more than a possible backup and to at least give some breathing room to not force need in the draft. We're still drafting two CBS regardless imo.

If he's not solving a problem, you still have a forced need. The cause of that forced need is Elam sucking.

That's very very possible, but it might not matter as much.

Jackson is a bit undersized but he's a legit gamer who's shown some ability to play physical, aggressive man in short areas. He'd certainly be a liability against faster receivers, but knowing McDermott, just because they want to play more man doesn't mean they're going to scheme it where chunk players are more available to offenses. He's risk-averse enough in that regard that Jackson might still be a good fit here at the right price.

I think he would be good in a dime man coverage. His prowess and ability to be the gamer you describe as the inside corner against the boundary would assist on weak side run defense, as well.

He's right there with Hamlin; he doesn't really make mistakes and what he lacks in overall ability he makes up for in his sharpness and prowess.

Hamlin is terrible also. He's poor in coverage but also doesn't tackle so he's got those things going for him. If he hadn't had his unfortunate spate with death he'd be off the team already.

Hamlin went to the pro bowl. He's not as bad as people think. He doesn't make flashy plays, he doesn't set the world on fire, he also doesn't mess up as much as people think.

The Pro Bowl is quite literally a worthless metric these days and, again, without his incident and the name recognition that comes with it that doesn't happen either.

Tyler Huntley went to the effing Pro Bowl. Let's us never speak of the Pro Bowl as something of value again.

He's solving a break class need or improving the floor by replacing Elam as a backup.

I get what you're saying he's not a legitimate solid starter.

There is no roster with high end starters at every position or backup position

I'm not saying we have to sign him. I'm simply saying he's probably better than Elam as a backup. And he'll be cheap. He's also very physical vs the run. Something Elam is horrible at.

We're still drafting two CBS regardless
