OldTimer1960 Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago I think this would be a welcome addition. I really like the idea of not being absolutely forced into a CB early. I think they would still consider CB in round one or two, but not as disastrous if the board doesn’t fall their way for CB early. Quote

If you wanted anything substantial for him, he needed to be traded 2 years ago. This is why I would like him in a big package for the Garrett or Crosby. It clouds the value of the trade. You put in J Cook, Elam, and AJE along with draft picks. Quote

Captain Hindsight Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago I said something after Levi Wallace was available. I'd keep him on the shortlist, but I'm not rushing to sign this guy. Since he left, we have a new DC, likely a new coverage philosophy and we need an influx of talent. Jackson has done well for himself as a late-round pick. But I'd be bummed if they signed him and didn't add some talent in the draft as a result. This should only be a signing after the draft IMO. Quote
HappyDays Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago I've been saying a cheap vet like Jonathan Jones makes sense but Dane Jackson makes even more sense given his familiarity with the scheme. And then ideally one of our first 3 picks will be a CB who would compete with him for the job. 2 Quote

Nothing wrong with wanting Elam gone and to upgrade the CBs on this roster. It's a necessity, but bringing back Jackson doesn't move the needle. We're probably going to pay Benford this offseason or next so we can't be breaking the bank for our CB2. I would treat CB like WR - ideally you want your #1 on a big contract that he's earned and your #2 on a rookie deal. We've made just one significant draft investment there since 2017 and obviously Elam turned out to be a massive bust so we have to try again. Best case scenario is a cheap vet competing with a rookie drafted relatively high. Save the big cap investments for WR, DL, and safety. Quote

In the Athletic today they suggested re-signing Douglas for 1 year at $10 mill with a $7 mill cap hit with 3 mill in 2 void years. Then using a good draft pick on a CB in the draft. I’d suggest actually drafting 2 CBs like we did in 2022 draft. 1 Quote

Wow I would hate that. I have no clue what Joe Buscaglia was thinking. Douglas fell off big time this year and isn't getting any younger. 2 Quote
Mike in Horseheads Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago A red flag should go up if the Panthers released him Quote
The Jokeman Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago I'm assuming he's better than Elam/Lewis/Ingram as definitely bring him to be very least to be our 3rd CB. Likely not good enough to replace Douglas but we could use one of our 2nds for that. Quote

Elam has zero trade value, unfortunately Quote
That's No Moon Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Can we stop having slow, zone only corners? Please? Can we demonstrate that we have learned at least one thing from our consistent failure to the same team?? Quote

He's not being signed to be anything more than a possible backup and to at least give some breathing room to not force need in the draft. We're still drafting two CBS regardless imo. Quote
