If Josh did not want to extend his contract and potentially leave, would you blame him?

As long as we keep the same owner, GM, and Coach he'll stay here until his late 30's. Six straight lottery punches and five straight division titles.  He's not an idiot and knows what regression to the mean means.  Meanwhile, you have a guy like Burrow begging his owner not to cheap out.

When was that?  The Bills have won at least 6 games for the last 14 seasons.  They may have had some very middling teams, but they were not the worst team in football at any point during that run.

You have to go back to 2001 when they finished 3-13. Other than that the 84 and 85 Bills were definitely the worst team in football at that time with back-to-back 2-14 seasons. Even during drought years, they usually managed to win 6 or 7 games.

Those back to back 2-14 years were the first two years of my marriage. My wife asked “Why do you do this to yourself?”  😂

Now she wears a shirt that says Married Into This. She’s a great sport!

Nope. Josh watched film on WR’s and came away wanting Keon Coleman.

Seems like Josh made a solid choice. We all wish Keon contributed a bit more but he didn't have a bad rookie year at all, in fact he had a pretty good rookie year. His numbers would have been a lot better (and they are already pretty good for a rookie) had he not missed 4 games. As a rookie he had 550+ yards and 4 TD's on a modest 57 targets (while missing 4 games due to that Poyer hit) and he's only going to be 22 years old next season. Seems like Josh might know what he's doing?

Josh was talking about Keon Coleman way before that. Made me nervous. Loved his basketball background. Then we get to Keon on the Bills and we have Josh throwing up jump balls to Keon all the time.

Josh the QB is HOF.  Josh the GM is more Doug Whaley.

No I don't blame him. I've been saying I give him 2-3 more seasons before he demands a trade. He's not going to win a super bowl here with McD and bean.

John elway didn't win a super bowl till he was 37...

Josh has a legacy in Buffalo he has to worry about.. you know the wing at o'shei's children hospital with Patricia Allen's name on it? That video of all the children telling Josh they love him

That's all gone if he leaves.. her name is not on the wing , he's not their hero.. Josh is not the king of Buffalo

And he cares too much for any of that stuff above to happen

Bills were 3-13 in 2001 as you mentioned. They then only won less than 6 games in 2005 (a 5-11 season) and in 2010 (a 4-12 season). In an entire 17 year playoff drought they were only 5 or less wins 3 times. Granted 6-10 is not a very good record but it's as you said far from the bottom of the league.

Edit: Looking at the Bills all time records and from 1967 to 1986 you see some really rough stretches. From 67 to 72 they had 4 or less wins (in 14 game seasons) every year including two 1 win seasons. Then from 76-78 the Bills had another rough stretch where they 2/3/5 win seasons. And then again in the 84-86 stretch they had 2/2/4 win seasons. Since 1987 the Bills have only had 3 seasons where they managed to not win 6 games a pretty decent result given that is a 38 year stretch. But before 1987 they were looking at 12 seasons of having 5 or fewer wins (minus strike shortened season).

Would Bills fans rather keep McDermott or Allen?  The answer should be obvious, but I'm not sure it would be 100%.

I'm a very big McD fan but if the question is Josh or McD I would pick Josh 5 times out of 4. And I'm fairly certain 99% of Bills fans would agree with that.

Even if he wanted to leave (and if I was him I would, for the reasons you mentioned) he would be franchise tagged for 3 years and afterwards would be heading into a major contract extension in his mid 30’s. Only chance he leaves is via trade, and it would be the largest compensation for an NFL player in history.

The Bills wouldn’t even start listening unless it’s 3X1s with some 2’s and 3’s sprinkled in there.

  1. He has said he wants to bring home the Lombardy to Buffalo. Buffalo is his home, no need to go to a west coast team,,,,  Mt 2 cents anyway!

With what Josh and Hailee make they could afford and probably do have homes in Buffalo/Orchard Park and California.

Some of this could be true.  But his grandmother's name is not coming off that hospital. Do you think these people won't cheer for him? I will were ever he goes.

I mean you don't think there will be spite in buffalo? The city has ran plenty of players out of town, and once the love is gone it's gone forever

So yes if Josh demands a trade, and leaves this city... Then yes his reputation will be completely damaged beyond repair

There's a reason why guys like Thurman and Jim have never left even after they're playing days.. it's because they realize there's no NFL City like Buffalo, and if you embrace them they will embrace you

But yes if Josh demands a trade his entire legacy is out the window and I bet you his grandmother's name is not on that hospital Wing for long if he forces his way out because Buffalo can be spiteful... Bills fans donated more than Josh gave actually

The biggest thing is people in Buffalo are Buffalo Bills fans.. we are fans of the Buffalo Bills.. we root for them when they are 2 and 14 or 14 and 2.. so no most people are not going to root for Josh Allen if he forces a trade to Los Angeles

We are die-hard Bill's fans in Buffalo... We root for the bills not the players at the end of the day

I'm sure if you're a casual Bills fan from Mississippi you would have no problem following Josh's career in Los Angeles.. a born and raised Buffalonian roots for the name on the front of the Jersey

If memory serves me correctly, Josh Allens contract runs through the 2028 season. And with the franchise tag, he is a Bill through the 2029 season. This coming May Josh will celebrate his 29th birthday. At the end of the hypotheical franchise tag season Josh will be 34 years old. I would think if Josh wanted out of Buffalo, he would like to do it before the season he would be playing at 35 years old. That being said, from the Bills standpoint, what was the point of tendering Josh an early contract if you can't take advantage of his lower annual salary to better your team in other positions. Prematurely raising his contract , from my perspective, defeats the objective of an earlier than required signing.
