We have mentioned it doesn't seem like it's been that long. My longest relationship before her was about 5 years. Has it really been that long??!!!??!! She is amazing, btw Quote

I keep seeing how long people were together before getting married, and I realize that is much more my style. I take my time making decisions. I am somewhat slow to act, generally. However, we were engaged only about 6 months after we met and married about 6-7 months after that. It was clear that we would be together, and my wife’s father had been battling cancer. He was struggling with his chemo, and she wanted him to be able to walk her down the aisle. We were on a mission to get things done properly while we could. My FIL did walk her down the aisle and rebounded after our wedding. He lived another 8 years, but I have zero regrets over acting as quickly as we did. Having that impetus to act was a blessing. EDIT: If I had done things at my natural pace, I might have found a way to screw this up. The Universe was protecting me! 😂 . Edited 23 hours ago by Augie 1 1 Quote
Captain Hindsight Posted yesterday at 02:41 PM Posted yesterday at 02:41 PM Married for 7 years in June, been together since 2011. I brought her to her first game Bills Dolphins 2011 the day we started dating. She was more excited to be there than I was. I knew I'd found the right girl right then and there 2 Quote
PastaJoe Posted yesterday at 02:47 PM Posted yesterday at 02:47 PM Lived in sin for 3 years until she gave me the ultimatum that it was “time to fish or cut bait”. Have been married for 35 years. Quote

Have been married for 35 years. There is an olfactory joke here somewhere, I suppose either way you made the right decision 2 Quote

In the past the only time I wouldn't wear it was skiing. I was worried I'd lose it in the glove and/or cuz it was cold and it would slip off. I stopped wearing it since covid when I was working from home and it seemed pointless. afaik wifey doesn't care - and I don't know and care even less whether she wears her engagement or wedding ring.
