In all my life , Ive never seen a military helicopter collide with a passenger plane on FINAL, or a passenger plane get its damn wing ripped off upon landing.  But now I've seen both in one week.

Any coincidences, like massive stresses and idiotic oversight from some 'undefinable' sources come to mind?

At some point you're going to understand what happens under incompetent leadership.   It's only just starting.

You should have put this in the incredibly idiotic “Will the FAA still be here in 3 weeks” thread. Who was it that started that flaming pile of sh*t?

What would you say to this person?

"The cuts do not affect us. I've been in close communication with the Secretary of Transportation. I understand that the, the cuts at this time are something that are raising questions, but the reality is there's over 50,000 people that work at the FAA. And the cuts, I understand, were 300 people, and they were in non-critical safety functions.

The Trump administration has committed to investing deeply in terms of improving the overall technologies that are used in the air traffic control systems and modernizing the skies. They've committed to hiring additional controllers and investigators, and safety and investigators. So no, I'm not concerned with that at all."

Not sure what you are suggesting here, but the accidents are completely unrelated.

If you have a point to dispute that, make it.

Sure thing!   You're a former Navy pilot... and I'm jealous- please tell me you flew the Tomcat!!, and I'm an aircraft owner and private pilot- I don't want to misrepresent myself.

But what I see, and this is not a stretch, is a system losing its functionality... or coincidences, but I don't believe that.

We have an administration dead-set on dismantling our known norms- Have you ever seen anything like an Army helicopter colliding with a passenger jet on final, or a passenger het rolling over on a landing they should have 'gone 'round'?

Good luck on your aviation wishes.

I flew against the F-14 tons of times, as a Pacific Fleet Adversary.

The F-18 was multitudes better.

Topgun is a cool move, but I never had any serious problem beating the F-14 in a close in "knife fight."

Ever.

It was designed and employed as a beyond visual range Phoenix missile launcher.

I loved fighting it.

Two turns and you had it.

The FAA screwed up allowing visual operations along the final of runway 33 with civilian ops, who are not as good at looking outside.

I don't have an aviation wish- I got my license at 18 and own a pretty damn cool airplane.

The F-18 is a compromise of mediocrity, administered by the typical bull#### of a Dick Cheney type with his supportive cronies.  A re-developed F-14, more modern and modular, would wipe any thought of that plane off the history books.

So, have you ever conceptualized Anything like an Army helicopter hitting a civilian plane in Final??  Or a passenger jet, which we both know should have gone around with improper flap deployment, just ***** 'hitting the turf' and rolling around with a shattered wing.

Now why would any of that happen?  Idiots keeping things on schedule is my main culprit- yours?

You don't matter, but thanks for commenting.

It keeps my something rating up, I think.  )

And ultimately, we need the F-14's range.   People don't know this, but the Tomcat literally kept our planet out of nuclear war.  Sure, not the best dogfighter in its original form due to engines, size and whatever the hell, but there's no way to think anything beyond the truth that that airplane literally kept Russian nuclear armaments thousands of miles away from the United States, singlehandedly.  You know this aircraft had a very particular role, correct?

I would be embarrassed too.

You say things that really, just ultimately, don't matter.  You, literally, just don't know anything about what you are commenting upon.  It's pretty ***** obvious in this particular case.

Maybe, because you have an obvious political agenda, just thumbs up something Sherpa says, if he replies?

Another plane crash today. Two planes collided over an airport over Arizona.

So these are the sorts of planes that I fly, single engine land, and both the Lancair and Cessna are fantastic airplanes in their own way.  It's just ***** sad and pathetic that our leadership is out to demolish proper standards of everything.

Just be carful man. God only knows what the hell is going on our there?  People like to blame dei, but I haven't seen anyone post any evidence and that is just the lazy man's uninformed opinion.

I am no expert on this subject. I don't like to fly much anymore, mostly because I don't like dealing with airports.

My favorite show is air disasters.  The only thing I have to say is even tho people like to say how safe air travel is it took me over a year or watching that show before I saw a repeat. And on cable TV that show was on more than once a week.
