Who had the most impressive MVP season among the three Bills MVP's????

I think arguments can be made for all three to be the best for different reasons, but if I had to rank them, I would give a slight edge to Josh Allen over OJ, with Thurman's really impressive season 3rd.

OJ Simpson: 

 

In 14 Games...... 

Rushed for 2,003 yards and 12 touchdowns

Led the NFL in rushing attempts (332) and rushing touchdowns (12)

Averaged 143.1 yards rushing per game

Had three 200-yard rushing games, six 150-yard rushing games, and eleven 100-yard rushing games

 

Thurman Thomas:

 

In 16 games.....

Rushing: 1,407 yards on 339 attempts

Receiving: 62 receptions for 631 yards

Touchdowns: 12 touchdowns

All-purpose yards: Over 2,000 yards

 

Josh Allen:

 

In 17 starts(truly 16 games played)........

Completion percentage: 63.6% 

Passing yards: 3,731 

Passing TDs: 28 

Interceptions: 6 

Yards per attempt: 7.7 

Passer rating: 101.4 

QBR: 77.3 

Rushing yards: 531 

Rushing TDs: 12 

Yards per carry: 5.2

IMO, Josh. And I'm a big Thurman fan. But QB is the hardest position to play, and to put up those numbers while having to do all the QB stuff as well, makes it the most impressive.

I wasn’t around to watch it live, but from the stories I’ve heard and the looking at the stats, OJ’s MVP season seems the most historic and sounds most visually impressive.  Ignoring OJ’s post-career actions.

OJ and it’s not close.  Those voting for Allen either weren’t around when OJ played, or they don’t want to give him credit because of his post career actions.

From a pure stats perspective it's clearly OJ. 2000 in 14 games will never be done again.

Allen is most valuable, for sure.  He plays the most important position, and he plays it almost as well as anyone ever has. 

 

But the OP asked two questions - one in the title and one in the poll.  If the question is most impressive, it's OJ.  His season was completely unprecedented, almost unimaginable.   Compared to seasons that other QBs have had, Allen's was very good but not outstanding.

The two best rushing seasons of all time was OJ's in '73 and Brown's in '63.  Josh's best year statistically was in 2020 but Rodgers posted absurd numbers that year.  It's definitely OJ though of the three.

It’s the Juice.  And that takes nothing away from what Josh and Thurman did.  That ‘73 season was unprecedented and spectacular.

Wasn't arought to see OJ's season live, but I have seen highlights and plenty of commentary on that season.  I did see Thurman's season live and I have watched those games from that season several times since.  And, of course, Allen just did what he did.  It's a tough question because we're talking about 3 different eras with different rules, etc.  

 

For me, it's going to be OJ, though, because he did something that I don't think we will ever see it done again.  2000 yards in 14 games.  That is just incredible and although guys have rushed for 2000 since, they haven't done it in anywhere close to 14 games.  So, to me, that's the true rushing record in the NFL.  Thurman was awesome and I believe he is one of the best all around backs ever to play in the NFL.  He not only did what he did, but he changed the game in a lot of ways.  I don't think there are guys like LT, Faulk, etc. without him laying the groundwork for backs to become true dual threat options.  And then there's Allen.  He was awesome this season.  Absolutely deserving of the MVP and, for my money, he's the best player in the world right now.  I am certainly not trying to diminish what he did, but the fact is, I could argue that this could have been his 3rd MVP instead of his first.  He's had multiple seasons deserving of the award and he's been robbed in the past if you ask me.  And the kicker.......I still don't believe we have seen his best football.  So, with that in mind, I believe he will win it again with an even better season ahead.

 

So, it's OJ for now......but I expect Allen to take this spot sooner rather than later.

He turned out to be a POS but that doesn't take away from what he accomplished on the field.

We love Josh Allen. I love Josh Allen's game, but this still belongs to OJ Simpson.

Taking all the emotions out....#17 is the best football player we have had as a Buffalo Bill...There is nothing Allen has not accomplished other than getting to and winning the Super Bowl.   Go Bills !!!
