For those that are interested in what the future of the salary cap could look like in the next 4-5 years, this is an excellent read.

Thanks for that. Good read. I have always thought Lurie was one of the better owners in the NFL. I remember the day he fired Chip Kelly 18 months after sidelining Howie Roseman and handing Chip the keys to the castle. He fronted up, did an hour and a half at the podium getting roasted by reporters where he completely owned the decision, set out what the next steps were going to be and accepted he had made a mistake and he was determined to fix it. That's what leadership looks like folks.

Almost exactly a year later Pegula fired Rex Ryan and the first person who was sent out to do any media was Anthony Lynn as interim Head Coach. That is not what leadership looks like.

Interesting nugget in what Brett wrote is that he speculates that the 8% share Laurie sold which was $650 Million was used to help finance their "rolling bonus options" to keep all their players.  The Bills did just sell a 20% stake which is supposed to net Pegula around $1 Billion, maybe and hopefully they will use some of that to do the same?

There are ALWAYS ways to manipulate the cap to get what players you want.

Exactly.  We have a number of players that can be restructured including Josh.  God knows they’ve done that enough with Mahomes.  I’m going to keep banging the drum of Garrett, and if not Crosby.  Beane has proven time and time again, he stinks at picking DE’s.  We need to buy one.  We can save $8 mil. By cutting Von.  Von was a good idea, but since his injury, he’s only soaringly helped in 2024, and not at all in 23.

We can draft one of the many beast DT’s in the draft as that draft is deep.

Let’s get the big fish but we should at least get something comparable to Leonard Floyd. They need to add a good edge player and a good 1 tech.

Diggs counted for 31M last year. This coming year: zero. Von Miller will count for a lot less too. Some Bills are FA now. The allowed cap number really went up. So... WHY are the Bills AGAIN over the cap?

The Bills have a lot of middle priced players. But the biggest thing fans and media don’t talk about when it comes to cap space is players signed. Bills need a CB, but other than that they’re pretty much set roster wise. Obviously they will make moves cap wise and roster wise to improve but they’re in good shape.

Josh's cap number ballooned this year.  Not as many free agents to re-sign as usual.  You can create a lot of cap space with cuts, restructures, etc... where we can even sign pricey free agents.
