Key is to look at cap % when looking at contracts. Take James Cook. $15 million this year is not the same as $15 million last year. You have to take cap increases into account.

I do.  The only thing I don't like is the % gets skewed with 90 players vs 53.

10-year Josh extension is what I’m feeling…gonna free up some big-time room for Beane to work some magic.  If there was ever a superstar player in this league who would be willing to help the team it’s our own Josh Allen.

I know Beane has been against this approach for the most part, but the fact is, the chances of us getting another Josh Allen are super slim.  And, to that point, I honestly don't care what happens for a couple of seasons after he retires.  If we have to field a team off the streets for a couple years to get out of a salary cap disaster, so be it.  Our best chance to win a Super Bowl comes in the next 5-7 years with Allen at QB.  So yeah.....mortgage the future.  It's time to truly go all in on winning a Super Bowl.  Swing for the fences and, if it doesn't work, so be it.  But, if it does.....and we do win one?  I don't think any of us will have a problem with a couple of down years a decade from now.

When are fans going to realize that when you give more money to EVERY NFL TEAM.  All that happens is the cost of every player you

want to sign goes up.  It does not allow any 1 team to sign more or better players.

That's not quite true. More money goes to the high value players, generally. Depth and lower end starters don't all go up in price at the same rate. Positional values also play into it. So, it can be more beneficial to certain teams more than others depending on their individual needs and cap issues.

I compare it to a stimulus check.  It means a lot more to the people struggling to pay their rent than those who can put it in savings.

The CBA was written to take care of the low end.  Every year the rookies, vet minimums and even the PS players get around a 7% raise.

That equates to the average overall cap increase, although that got knocked off some because of the Covid years.

I fear this too. Washington has cap and is now a place players want to be.

But they have the World Champs in division.  I think Buffalo represents a better opportunity for him.

Plus it’s the NFC far easier path to the SB.

And Browns trade him out of conference.

I'd just lock up that Garrett thread.

Would be nice if we could draft d lineman just half as good as he is.

Everyone is getting some degree of cap space.

I’d seriously consider Hollywood Brown.  Extend Benford, Cook, Bernard (only bc he’s inexpensive).

Groot can play out year 5 for all I care.

Yep to Hollywood Brown.

I hear ya - but Daniels is the real deal. We will see as you mention above. But man, the kid has it!

Stroud came out like Daniels did and then a couple of injuries brought him back to earth this season, it takes a team to keep it humming . Im not saying the kid doesn't have talent but there were a couple of games that the opposition made him look human but if they stay healthy watch out ...

Washington is going to make Garrett the highest paid non QB player in NFL history.

If they do that i think they are top 3 team in the league next year.

Time to go full out Eagles and used their void year approach to contracts Beane while Josh is in his prime.

There has to be a renewed sense of urgency to go for it.  San Francisco and the Eagles do this far more than any other teams which is why they have had the best and most expensive rosters in the NFL.

Eagles have two star tackles, they had a star center, two star WR’s, a franchise QB, A really good TE, top 3 RB, and are loaded with high quality players across the defensive line, Really good DB’s and 2 very good linebackers.

They are able to keep those players because of how they manipulate the cap with the voided years.

Plus the Salary cap has exploded the last two years and some believe that the curve will even steepen with how they are now going to begin measuring  viewership numbers which is what they believe is going to show even more viewers than they are counting them now.

When the league goes to renegotiate in 2028/2029 with the networks CBS/FOX or whoever wants to make a bid, the league will have these massive viewership numbers and Netflix who is expected to make a bid.  Netflix has a cap of $450 Billion, they can massively outbid CBS and FOX, and one of those two networks is going to lose out.

The salary cap is going to go bananas in 2029/2030.     I hope Beane pitches Pegula hardcore about getting more aggressive with their decisions.   You can resign all the main guys, Benford, Bernard, Rousseau, Cook and Shakir and still go after. Garrett and a DJ Reed.  I played around with the numbers https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/buffalo-bills#google_vignette

They can totally make this happen if there is a will to do it
