Seriously depressing with him telling us everyone ends up divorced, anyway. He said this during the service from the altar. It was his theme. Thank you, Fr Timlin for that inspiring message. They’ve been married about 50 years now, and I’m sure it wasn’t just to spite him. 14 minutes ago, SinceThe70s said: He’s so lonely, that was the first selfie! 1 Quote

My ex-wife had a friend that was on her third marriage. She married husband #1 (H1), cheated (C1), divorced H1 so she could marry the C1/H2, then cheated on C1/H2, divorced C1/H2 so she could marry cheater #2 (C2/H3). And before my ex and I split, I think she was in the process of divorcing C2/H3. Quote

I guess a priest with that message is going to be correct sometimes, but to make that the theme of the day just sounds like a bitter old man with a pulpit. . Edited 9 hours ago by Augie 1 Quote
Not at the table Karlos Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago (edited) I’ve been close a couple times but there’s always something that holds me back. I struggle to keep my mouth shut if something bothers me and won’t let it go until it’s resolved. Currently dealing with the fall out of that and broke off the engagement. Would be nice to find a woman that has accountability but I’m beginning to understand they physically cannot do it. 11 hours ago, ExiledInIllinois said: They say (I guess study) being lonely is like smoking 3 packs a day. That might affect the degree of difficulty. 😊 We are also married 40 years as of last Sunday, and I’ve never been happier. It’s not always bliss, but I learned to be better about shutting up. It turns out she’s right about a lot of stuff. Who knew? 🤷♂️ . Happy belated anniversary! 1 Quote
Johnny Hammersticks Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago A bit of advice for those who might be pondering marriage. Make sure you do your research about your potential partner, and also do a deep dive into her family history. Mental health, medical, generational trauma, etc. You’ll be living with much of these factors down the line. Also, what does your potential mother in law look like? Genetics are powerful, and that’s probably pretty close to what you’ll be looking at every day for as long as you remain married. Petty? Maybe so, but true. 😂 1 Quote
