Sweats Posted Monday at 03:33 PM Posted Monday at 03:33 PM The football trifecta..... My buddies and i were throwing this conversation around on the weekend, that just about every competitive team has had the football trifecta (three really good O players and maybe not great, but good in their own right and some of them just good enough to be competitive, but a trifecta nonetheless). Bills - Kelly, Reed, Thomas 49's - Montana, Rice, Waters Dallas - Aikman, Irving, Smith Colts - Manning, Wayne, Faulk Rams - Warner, Holt, Faulk KC - Montana, Allen, Davis Lions - Peete, Sanders, Moore Pats - Brady, Ridley, Welker etc. etc. etc. etc. So, who on our current Bills roster is our O trifecta?...........obviously Allen, Cook and ?????? I am of the belief that if you can at least have a quality QB (check), a quality RB (check) and a quality WR (nothing), you have the most advantage to spread the field, become less predictable and create mismatches where at least one of your quality trifectas can consistently make plays. It's a formula that works. 1 1 1 Quote
chongli Posted Monday at 03:36 PM Posted Monday at 03:36 PM (edited) Rodney Peete?? Really? Edited Monday at 03:36 PM by chongli 1 13 1 1 Quote
Mr. WEO Posted Monday at 03:37 PM Posted Monday at 03:37 PM Rodney Peete was really bad....he can't be on this list lol 1 Quote
Gregg Posted Monday at 03:37 PM Posted Monday at 03:37 PM Allen, Cook, Shakir would be my guess. 1 3 Quote
Sweats Posted Monday at 03:41 PM Author Posted Monday at 03:41 PM Ok, maybe not Peete, however, Mitchell threw for an average of 3,000 yards/season........he might be a better comparable than Peete. 1 Quote
chongli Posted Monday at 03:42 PM Posted Monday at 03:42 PM Also, replace Wayne with Harrison and for Detroit have Goff/St. Brown/Gibbs. 1 1 Quote

Rubes Posted Monday at 03:54 PM Posted Monday at 03:54 PM If only you had just left the Lions off of your list... 2 Quote
BuffaloBillyG Posted Monday at 04:01 PM Posted Monday at 04:01 PM Waters only played with Montana for 2 seasons. I think Roger Craig would have been the better RB to stick there. Also, I believe Faulk only played one season with Manning. Edgerrin James was the play next to Manning. 5 1 Quote

This thought exercise goes a long way towards showing that Allen has not enjoyed the kind of superior trifecta that other elite QB's have enjoyed at different points in their careers. As an aside you could argue that for the Chiefs the trifecta of Mahomes, Kelsy & Hill or going back further Dawson, Garret & Taylor were better then Montana, Allen & Davis Quote

MikePJ76 Posted Monday at 04:32 PM Posted Monday at 04:32 PM (edited) Since you have Michael Irving on your list I think you should add Jason Whitten. No what I am saying.... We all need a laugh right. Edited Monday at 04:58 PM by MikePJ76 Quote

wppete Posted Monday at 05:21 PM Posted Monday at 05:21 PM Detroit has a pretty good trio. Goff - Gibbs - St Brown 1 Quote
