The whole situation was so insane, kinda like the Johnny Depp Amber Heard situation where everyone came looking like human garbage.

Don’t think Martin is garbage. But rather someone who has his own mental health issues to work through, with a high IQ that just makes things even more chaotic

This is so upsetting.  So many of these incidents are just fake!!! This needs to stop!

Yep. So if you're keeping score at home it's at least 1 OL, 1 QB, & 1 kicker getting the full trial in the media. Guilty, because Pro Football Talk & Mike Florio believe his pulpit is above human decency.

Oh sure, you participate in one shooting with Aaron Hernandez and all of a sudden you aren’t considered high character anymore!

Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone I say.

To be clear Martin didn’t fabricate anything. Incognito did everything he was accused of, what Martin regrets is calling it bullying and cooperating with the investigation. In that same article Martin says what Incognito did was very wrong and wished he’d stood up to him.

read the article.  It’s an interesting read. There is little defending Incognito.  Heck if nothing else read the text msg that Incognito sent out

There was nothing fake about it .

this isn’t junctions boys eras. You don’t speak to people the way Incognito did

Maybe you don't... But, a lot... A LOT of people still do.

The last real locker room I was a part of was in the early 00's and it was the same.

You also, just like the article and much of the further investigation, mitigate or negate his actions partaking in this. He gave it back, too. He was just soft and wasn't cut out for it.

The title of this thread seems wrong. All the events that were considered bullying all still happened. Nothing about the facts changed.

Martin is just trying to be a scam artist crypto bro, which requires you to have an “alpha male” persona. So he’s doing what he can to distance himself from the bullying event because it makes him look weak to that audience.

If Incognito told me he was going to kill me I might believe him, dude has more than one screw loose.

Absolutely this.

I thought this exchange towards the end of the (very long) article was pretty funny:

How would he [Martin] handle confrontation differently now?

"I respect everyone. I give everyone a chance," he says. "I'll be nice to you, smile on my face. If you disrespect me, I'll rip your f---ing head off."

By text he reaches out later to clarify his answer: "'Rip your head off' was a metaphor, speaking to competitive fire," he says. "It is not a threat. I am not threatening towards anyone. I follow the rules & I'm polite + respectful."

Dude, have you ever transmitted class 3 level NSA documents from your phone at the gym?  Do you have any idea how stressful that is?  When someone gets in your space while you're transmitting top secret government docs from the squat rack all options are on the table.  I have shot putted kettlebells at peoples heads and discus tossed plates at knee caps in the name of national security.

Would the simple act of having them on your phone in the first place make them inherently insecure?

that article was awful.  so wordy, and like, what info did it give?  that martin doesn't want people to think he was bullied, that he just made up stories?

it seems like martin wants to get rich in crypto, and being looked at as an oversized wimp who got bullied doesn't work with that, but he's not like revealing meaningful info, incognito still looks like a bully and a total psycho (and he has a rap sheet that could fill a book just from what i've heard about him on podcasts spoken by people who actually like him!), and martin is what, admitting he was being conniving and lied and went along w the bully narrative when it happened?

it seems martin and the writer are using corporate strategy to rebrand himself without providing any new information.

My same take too. It took me forever to get through that article to figure out there was actually no “lie” here.

my last locker room was in 1998 and my football team went undefeated for the first time in program history and we made the district playoffs. Great great team.

yes we joked about each others moms and ***** like. We NEVER would degrade each other like Incognito and his boys would do. Ask Josh Allen what he thinks about that.

Yes Martin participated some in that, but it’s because he felt he was forced to, in order to fit in and be accepted. That’s part of being bullied.

I despise the concept of “being soft” because we show emotion as humans and we don’t like being attacked in personal ways.

Putting down others in order to make yourself feel good is a sign of extreme lack of self confidence.  Allowing others to bully you in order to be seen as part of the group is also a sign of insecurity.

In my mind both Incognito and Martin both showed a ton of insecurity, but the difference is that Incognito acted out in a wholly malignant manner while Martin acted out reactively to that

Martin concurs with what the Wells report reported.  The OPs linked article nowhere says Matins claim was "built on a lie".  It's just him saying he should have handled it differently.  Not sure how many here read the article.  The facts aren't in dispute.

The NFL investigation into Snyder was flawed, but it did result in him stepping down as day to day operations person.  A subsequent and parallel House Committee investigation confirmed financial and workplace improprieties resulting in criminal investigation. He was gone not long after that.  So saying the "only thing that happened" was a coach was blackballed is not correct.

The report’s conclusion was that it was bullying. Martin said it was normal locker room stuff

Imagine thinking that somebody else could be responsible for ruining your "brothers" reputation when your brother sends text messages like this.

Quote

"Hey, wassup, you half n----- piece of s---. I saw you on Twitter, you been training 10 weeks. [I want to] s--- in your f---ing mouth. [I'm going to] slap your f---ing mouth. [I'm going to] slap your real mother across the face [laughter]. F--- you, you're still a rookie. I'll kill you."

I don't doubt that Martins family lead the charge on this in order to save their kid life changing money. But lets nor pretend that the whole entire thing was made up, that Incognito wasn't using racial slurs towards others in the building, and that he was some good dude before Jonathan Martin came along.

Incognito is a bad human with overly scrambled eggs.

If you allow someone else life to be ruined based on a known lie then you are garbage. You can be become a better person over time but what he did is not what a moral or ethical person does.

Sorry, Mr Bundy, didn't realize your high school experience was on the same as pro's.

These guys aren't saints. They are as competive as any individual out there and on a level none of us will get to by shear willpower and skill.

A mind at that level we cannot conceive of and understand.

Do you not remember the whole situation? Martin lied about Incognito in order to set up a lawsuit. He literally just admitted he lied to set up the lawsuit.

Wait, what was the lie? There was hard evidence that was shared with the Dolphins. Martin is just trying to reframe things all these years later because it made him look like a wuss.

Did you even read the story?  What was the lie?

The “lie” was that Martin never believed it to be bullying but didn’t correct his mother in front of TMZ and also went along with the Wells report, even though he believed it to be a “clown show.”

I imagine Martin knows Incognito along with his other teammates didn’t truly mean any ill will towards him, nothing that Richie said is to be taken in the literal sense. It was over the top locker room comments, very inappropriate, but harmless in intent.
