Is it not? I mean obviously they want their first round picks to be studs, but beane has whiffed on alot of their picks. Especially in earlier rounds. Von Miller and Diggs are the only big name guys they got in free agency or via trade. The Miller contract was questionable from the start. Way over paid, but had he not been injured, it's possible it would've paid off. They have to do something different. Kc is obviously not going away and the defense is failing us year after year

No they are not deliberately trying to miss on things.  That is ridiculous.

Agreed.

A while back I looked at all "running QBs" - which I defined as guys who've rushed for 400+ yards/season - and longevity. The results were not promising, as most broke down by about age 32. And yes, I got a ton of comments pointing out that there was an explanation for all of those. But a pattern is a pattern.

I think this is the best case scenario for Josh. Let's call it the John Elway Aging Curve. If anyone can do it, he can. But its no sure thing.

With the current coach and front office, Josh will get to be Phillip Rivers.  Burrow gets to be the metaphorical Manning, who actully got to the superbowl the years Brady (mahomes) didn't.

Josh will become even better at reading defenses as he gets older. His athleticism and strength will weaken but his mental strength will increase.

 

As long as he stays in shape he might even be a better QB in years 33-38.

I look at JA and think of John Elway. Elway played until he was 38, and didn't win a SB until the previous year at age 37. He closed out with back to back Lombardi's, and rode off into the sunset.

Elway had already gotten to 3 Super Bowls before finally winning two championships. The fact that Josh hasn't gotten to one Super Bowl this far into his career is frustrating and disappointing.
