Special K Posted Sunday at 05:45 AM Posted Sunday at 05:45 AM (edited) We all know the Bills main needs this off-season are Edge, DT, CB2, WR, and S. Which positions do you think the Bills should focus on in Free Agency, and which ones should be focused on in the Draft? I think the Bills should look to bring in a top-flight CB2, swing for the fences to bring in a premium pass rusher, and add veteran depth at Safety in FA. As for the Draft, the Bills should focus on adding a WR with top-shelf speed, 2 big space-eating DT's, and a rangy athletic FS to pair with Bishop at SS, moving Rapp back to the 3rd Safety position he excelled in two seasons ago. What do you think the Bills off season plan should be?? How should they go about doing it?? Edited Sunday at 05:47 AM by Special K 3 1 Quote
Thrivefourfive Posted Sunday at 06:09 AM Posted Sunday at 06:09 AM I like FA for leadership roles on the field like the a position group signal callers. Draft guys that don’t have to be thinkers, if they’re not thinkers, like DE, interior DLineman. Thats what I like, and it makes no sense 🤣 1 Quote
GASabresIUFan Posted Sunday at 06:36 AM Posted Sunday at 06:36 AM (edited) The answer is actually the same - DL, WR, S & CB CB - We need a starter to replace Douglas. Our only real depth (especially when they move on from Elam) is Ingram and Lewis. I expect Beane to draft 1-2 CBs in the draft and sign at least one value vet with some starting experience. A couple of draft names UK's Hairston early and Louisville's ball hawk Riley in the middle. DL - We need to be better at stopping the run and a getting to the QB. We need a vet edge rusher to rush from the right side (Crosby, Garrett or ???) and we need stud young DT to replace Jones in a year or sooner. I don't think AJE returns and Miller will either be restructured or waived (50/50). How much of an emphasis Beane places on this position in the draft may depend on how much he likes Solomon and Carter from last year's draft. In the Draft Shemar Stewart (Edge) looks interesting, as do DTs Ken Grant (U of M), Alfred Collins (Texas) early and Miss' JJ Pegues in the mid draft. WR - We need a WR on the boundary who can get separation. I think Beane uses the draft to get such a player and re-signs Hollins in free agency. I'd also like to see Beane draft Kyle Williams from Wash St with a mid-level pick. I like Texas' Bond in the 2nd round. S - Bishop and the injury prone Rapp are the defacto starters, but veteran depth and a draft pick or 2 would help depth considerably. Bama's Malachi Moore looks like a interesting late rd flyer. Iowa's Castro in the middle rounds. Outside of Lewis we have no depth behind the starters. Other draft needs might be RB (if Johnson leaves), TE (if Morris leaves), and a backup QB. I'd take a flyer on UGA's Etienne if we need a RB. Edited Sunday at 10:24 PM by GASabresIUFan 1 1 Quote
Florida Bills Fanatic Posted Sunday at 04:19 PM Posted Sunday at 04:19 PM I think many people have accurately identified the pressing needs of the Bills and have accurately identified that the defense needs the most work. The source and the sequence of filling those needs should be driven by who/how many are available, the level of talent that they have, the cost of obtaining them, how they fit the playing scheme, and the overall value to the team. This year is a little different than prior years because the Bills will be looking for help at a greater number of positions. With the draft deeper at DT and DE, I will be surprised if Beane does much with free agents at these positions. I'm guessing the free agent effort will be focused on CB and Safety (assuming Hamlin and Douglas are gone). With a number of good Bills players looking for a second contract, I'm not expecting Beane to spend crazy FA money and put himself in a cap bind. As much as I would like to see Beane get a big time pass rusher, I don't expect it to happen. As it relates to the offense, obtaining a speedy outside receiver is probably on Beane's shopping list. He may go with a FA because this draft is not especially deep in WR talent and the good ones may be selected earlier than the Bills want to pick one. If a good one drops down the board, I won't be shocked if Beane makes a move to select him. Overall, Beane's free agent activity will give us a pretty good roadmap for the draft. 1 Quote
TheBeaneBandit Posted Sunday at 04:31 PM Posted Sunday at 04:31 PM Personally for me I'm going the free agent route with CB and safety as I think our draft slots do not line up well at all with the value at those positions. DE and DT are deep enough where maybe with a little moving up action we should be able to bring in some fresh new talent there. I'm also very determined to bring in more talent at WR as I believe you cannot stay complacent on offense. How WR gets done will be tricky but make no mistake it absolutely is a need. 1 3 Quote
Ya Digg? Posted Sunday at 04:44 PM Posted Sunday at 04:44 PM I’m fine going the free agent route for safety as long as they aren’t signing someone to be a starter. I think anyone thinking the Bills need to find a starter over Rapp and Bishop are misguided 1 Quote

Rock-A-Bye Beasley Posted Sunday at 04:48 PM Posted Sunday at 04:48 PM I thought you had to use your first round pick on your biggest need. So it has to be d line even though we play a rotation so they’re part-time players and you can get solid DTs on day 3 or veterans after free agency has died down. but seriously, I’m thinking if we trade for Garrett or Crosby , use the 2 4th rounders on run stopping DTs , then the rest can be addressed in FA 1 Quote

On offense, might just be signing Hollins and another FA WR, but still draft a WR too. On defense, fill what you can in FA for DL and Secondary, but hammer it hard in the draft with remaining draft picks. 1 Quote

They have two guys that are or appear to be better players going forward. rapp has proven he can not stay healthy and should not be relied on as a starter going forward imo. His best role is the one he had in 23. The third guy, the sub package guy. i hoping they sign a veteran in free agency. Love the idea of 24 year old SU grad Andre Cisco to come in and play center field here. the defense is going to change over the next four months personnel wise pretty considerably. we could see 1 or 2 new safeties 1 or 2 new corners possibly 6 new defensive lineman probably 3 new dt’s or so. They need a reliable vet at centerfield so the front 7 can be aggressive and play downhill. 1 1 Quote

If we can improve on Rapp, gotta do it. Bishop will get his chance because he's a high draft pick. Quote

In Summary Posted Monday at 04:11 AM Posted Monday at 04:11 AM I don't see Beane liking a 1-tech with a top pick. Unfortunate. It's an afterthought position with him. Quote

ghostwriter Posted Monday at 09:17 AM Posted Monday at 09:17 AM I’m hearing from the talking heads that this draft is weak at WR but deep at DT, DE and RB. Because of that I think we should go WR in Free Agency and perhaps Safety as well. Picks 1, 2, 3 should be on DL. Quote
harmonkillebrew Posted Monday at 02:02 PM Posted Monday at 02:02 PM I mean a lot of it depends on what we're able to do in FA. it's not the grocery store. Gotta compete with other teams for the best guys. But I'd say in FA: 1. Boundary WR - I'd take a swing for Tee Higgins. Also kick the tires on Hollywood Brown, Dyami Brown, Keenan Allen, Darius Slatyon, and Deebo Samuel trade. Bring back Amari Cooper if you can get a better deal, but I'd prefer a more explosive option 2. DE - obviously try to get Myles Garrett. If not, Khalil Mack would be great. Josh Sweat. Malcolm Koonce, Hassan Reddick. But then otherwise I'd go draft 3. S - Javon Holland, Talanoa Hufanga, Camron Bynum 4. CB - Carlton Davis, Byron Murphy, Chavarius Ward... all better options than the 2024 version of Rasul Douglas, who we could also bring back Draft: 1. D-Line - no question we go both DT and DE in this draft, early 2. WR - investing a 2nd in a guy with more speed as a complement to Keon on the outside would be good 3. CB - add some more young depth/talent Our D needs an overhaul. 1 Quote
BarleyNY Posted Monday at 03:20 PM Posted Monday at 03:20 PM FA to fill holes with players that are ok starting caliber or better. Draft for long term needs, development and depth. Beane’s strategy of leaving one obvious need for the draft has not played out well. I hope we’ve seen the last of it. Quote
