Am I the only person not clamoring for a Wide Receiver?

Wide Receiver is not the reason we lost to the Chiefs. We could draft a fast guy and get a veteran for cheap.

The $30M/YR contract needs to go to D-Line. Hell, I'd even take a safety and corner with that money.

I don’t think anyone wants to give a WR 30M..  closest I’ve seen is a trade for DK Metcalf, and that just makes sense in the same way signing Henry for Lamar did.  If you can do it.. do it.

We do definitely need speed/separation on the outside.   Teams literally played us one high safety with zero worries about anyone beating them over the top.   This affected not only Shakir, but also our TE’s as the middle of the field was more clogged up.

Whether that a RD1 or RD2 draft pick or a Slayton/Brown level FA, the Bills absolutely do need to add to the group of Shakir, Coleman and Samuel.. even if Hollins comes back.

Why is everyone so against paying top dollar for an actual number 1 guy?

Free agents that seem like a good fit, price/ talent/ age; to fill the few roster holes with vet players

one BIG splash signing:

Tee Higgins CINCINNATI BENGALS WR

At 26 years old, Tee Higgins is in the prime of his career. He has been the No. 2 receiver in Cincinnati but now has his chance to show he's a true No. 1. He is big and coming off a season with 10 touchdowns in 12 games. His market will be robust…

Why would I want to sign a guys who likely will be looking to become one of the highest paid WR in the game and wants to show he's a number 1 receiver?  The Bills need a WR who can separate better and has better speed and can catch the ball when it's thrown to him.  But doesn't need to be elite either as the Bills passing game is one of the top 10 in the league.  If Higgins were here and gets 60 to 70 receptions a season, it likely means the other players on the team will get around 50 less receptions combined.

Sean McDermott is on the record as not wanting a smurf receiver on the outside.  That may rule out Marquise Brown.  Darius Slayton and Dynami Brown probably measure up sufficiently to satisfy McDermotts height requirement.

Interesting. I'm not disputing this but never saw it. When did he say this? Thanks.

I think he said it last year on halloween when he was wearing his Gargamel Costume.

I don't doubt you but I would like to see it as well.   Honestly, I don't like this sort of thinking, you essentially cancel out players that could be better than the guys who have the dimensions you are looking for.  Similar to a degree of how many on this board and probably the Bills were so adamant during last years draft process to not go after Ladd McConkey.  Obviously and clearly that was a mistake, he will end up being an All Pro.  People didn't want to consider him because they believed he was only a slot guy, where in reality he is multi dimensional and could excel at any of WR spots, despite his snap utilization at the slot this past year.

The point is, you shouldn't cross off people because you believe they aren't your prototype or fit.   Really good players can find ways to get on the field and get the job done.

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/darius-slayton-expects-a-lot-of-interest-in-free-agency

Wide receiver Darius Slayton knows what kind of team he wants to land with in free agency.

Slayton told Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News that he “somewhere where they’re striving to be competitive and that the goal is to win” after spending the last six years doing a lot more losing than winning as a member of the Giants. The Giants come into the season with a lot of urgency to win after sticking with head coach Brian Daboll and General Manager Joe Schoen, but Slayton didn’t make it sound like staying put is in the cards.

Slayton believes there will be plenty of other suitors because his speed gives him a “niche” that’s appealing to teams around the league.

“When you look at that, my ability to stretch the field becomes more valuable because that leads to shorter drives, one-play touchdowns,” Slayton said. “You need chunk plays to score in this league. We know we have a lot of interest out there. And when free agency opens up, we’ll have a lot of different conversations to have with a lot of different people.”

Slayton is No. 50 on PFT’s list of the top free agents and he should come off the board quickly if there’s as much interest in his services as he expects to find next week.

Joe Marino has been banging the table for Bobby Brown III of the Rams. I'm with him. He's a monster. 6-4, 330, young, athletic. Some video Bucs website made, but there is some good breakdown around 3:44

This dude is exactly what our DL needs. I'd be ecstatic if we got him.

Scratch Tutu off the list...

That seems high to me. He's a good player with upside, don't get me wrong.

This makes the Shakir contract look pretty good and probably means the Rams cut Kupp, which I think makes him more attractive.

WRs are gonna get paid high this off-season. Lots of demand to upgrade WR rooms and lack of high end talent coming in FA and the draft. WR sticker shock is going to be a thing next week. Bank on it.

Add into that Tutu probably has more value to the Rams in what will be his 5th year in that system then to any other team right now...I think it's a fair deal. One year to see if he can move into the role Kupp leaves.

yeah, I was thinking about sticker shock, especially with some of these teams who have a crazy amount of cap space.
