What are you willing to pay?

Me?

No idea,  but a 4 year extension,  with a low cap hit the first 2 years means 3 years of affordability.

We haven't had a dynamic runner since Shady.

12 million AAV?

Saquon signed a 3 year deal for $36, no cap hit over 10 million because of void years.

It's doable

Nobody is gonna pay Raheem Mostert any more than the vet minimum at his age, he's done.

Raheem Mostert always lied about his age! He lied about his age all the time! One time, Frank Sinatra came in here, and sat in this chair. I say, "Frank, you hang out with Raheem Mostert. Just between me and you, how old is Raheem Mostert?" Know what Frank told me? He said "Hey, Raheem Mostert is a hundred thirty-seven years old." A hundred and thirty-seven years old!

Yeah, but he was born on a leap day... he only has a birthday every four years, so...

After last season and given his age Cook will be looking for top end money and his brother is fanning the flames telling him to go all out for a really big contract, so although Beane & McD know his worth to this offense i believe another team say like the Broncos knowing Payton's past as far as spending money will back up the Brinks truck or worse yet the Pats because they have a ton of cap space .

That would suck if the Bills had to go against Cook 2 times a year if the Bills allowed him to hit FA when his contract is done, I think he will be one that wants to test the market to see what he could generate in contract talks with other teams and go to the highest bidder .

We have to do what makes sense for the Buffalo Bills. Players come and go. I'm not signing a RB to ridiculous money.

let him go, statistically speaking he’ll come back to “haunt” us with 63 yards and a TD.

After watching us get destroyed by King Henry more than once, I wouldn't mind a modern day thumper at RB.  Eagles front office has been magicians with their roster building.

I read that Ty Johnson is not coming back.

He'd make a nice Ty replacement

Ty is going to test the market.  He could get a 2-year contract easily.

Id rather bring back Ty Johnson. Dude is exactly what I want in an RB2/RB3.

Dude can pass block. That's why James Cook, as good as he was in 2024, was not on the field for a lot of third downs.

I don't wanna pay a 2-down back elite money and I don't wanna replace Johnson with a guy who's fast but can't block. Don't know if Mostert can block but that's a criterion for whoever we sign.

Where did you read that out of curiosity?

11 Bills free agents who may not return

Ty, Von, Douglas, Hamlin, Milano, and Cooper all on the list.

For real? I thought he would jump

at the Chance to just re-sign with us. Has a perfect niche here.

Ty has only made $5.5M his whole career.  He has a chance for a multi-year contract that should double what he has made so far.

If Beane offers that, I think he stays.

Sadly, there is a definite shelf life for the majority of RB’s in the NFL.  It’s part of what the Bills have to consider when paying someone like Cook.

That's very true, but Mostert is 32.  His breakout year with SFO was his 5th year in the league.

The Bills could likely pay Cook on a 4 year contract and he would still be within his shelf life at the end.

That said, as I posted elsewhere - Cook didn't carry the load in rush attempts that the rush leaders in the NFL did - Henry, Barkley, Robinson, Taylor, Gibbs, Jacobs, Kyren Williams.  Of those 7, only Gibbs had fewer than 300 rush attempts while Cook had 207.  He was 5th in Y/A, but he hasn't shown he can carry the load that those other top backs carry. And he doesn't make up for it in contributions to the pass game - the Bills cut his workload in the passing game in favor of Ray Davis and Ty Johnson.

So it's very unclear to me what exactly are Cook's agents' arguments to pay him more than any RB but Christian McCaffery, who is a one-man wrecking crew when he's healthy.
