Just watch a clip and obviously people are picking players that either blew a big game or were just bad  (Peterman, Norwood, JP Losman were some of them).

I know most on here would probably throw out some better names like Erik Flowers and Aaron Maybin but it left me thinking.  Is Elam approaching the threshold?  I would say he could be if you were talking about "worst pick of all time" but in terms of player, he has been boom or bust.

Offseason topic since everything is slow so would be interested to see how everyone feels.

There are busts, and then there are bad players. Nate Peterman was a mid-round pick who was thrown in too early, and with little around him. Bad player, absolutely. Bad situation, no doubt. Not a bust.

if the question is busts, Maybin is a good call, but many experts were stunned by that pick, so maybe that was simply a bad draft decision.

I might go with Mike Williams, I believe our highest draft pick in the drought era. Huge lineman, no heart for the game. Never made a contribution, took his $$ (and that was the era where 1st rounders got paid big time) and did NOTHING.

Like the reasoning for both.  Mike WIlliams and Marcell were probably the two highest picks that got paid and weren't worth it.  Marcell had his moments and was probably an average player but what he was making as the #3 overall pick, he needed to be a game wrecker and never even came close.

That played - has to be Peterman.

This is the right answer. When he left the Bills he was statistically the worst QB ever. He should have never been put in the first place and the next year he shouldn’t have been an option to start.

It's gotta be Maybin. When you draft a pass-rushing DE with the 11th overall pick, and he fails to ever record one single sack for your team...I mean, it can't get much worse.

Elam is nowhere near being one of the worst players ever for the Bills.

Flowers & Maybin are easy choices, and justified too.

For me, I'll go with someone that many have probably forgotten, with good reason. Cornell Green.

Ed Wang was one of the worst draft picks I’ve ever seen this team make.

Nate Peterman for sure.

Another Buddy Nix era player Duke Williams was terrible.

Torell Troupe.

Wait I might be missing the joke, do you really think a guy drafted in the 5th round was the worst pick ever?

I think this player has to be a non QB starter.

Im going with the “Punt Catcher” Chris Watson.

Eddie Robinson was a close second because I’ll never get the image of him getting his ankles broken by Chad Pennington out of my head.

Well, one of the biggest Bills' busts ever was their first round pick (#19) out of Clemson in 1982, wide receiver Perry Tuttle.

He had 107 yards his first year, then 261 in 1983, by far his best year as a pro. Then, cut or traded, and in his 3rd best year in the NFL he caught 1 pass for 7 yards.

Went on to have a good career in the CFL, but no one cares, at least in our country.

I'm basically playing the devils advocate on this one I'll just say that the facts are still pretty damning for him:

1st round pick

beat out by a 6th rounder

had to trade for a 30 yr old CB to replace him

the journeymen that we have normally get the call up over him when the starting 2 are out.

Might not make him the "worst" but definitely puts him in the "biggest bust" category.

When I think of bust there has to be expectation for the player. Peterman should have never played but the Bills drafted him in round 5.

Mike Williams and Aaron Maybin are probably my top 2 with Elam, McCargo, Terell Troup, Erik Flowers, Lonnie Johnson, Tony Hunter in the next tier.

Are you strictly talking about Bills draft picks, or any Bills player?
