sherpa Posted February 13 Posted February 13 The US aircraft carrier Harrier S. Truman, CVN 75, evidently collided with a merchant ship just outside the Suez, near Egypt, as it was preparing to sail south through the canal. Doesn't look to be too serious damage wise, but these are always serious for the Navy.

Wacka Posted February 13 Posted February 13 The HST could have been stationary. Maybe the pilot of the merchant ship was impaired or negligent. They have piots that guide them through and into canals and harbors.

If it doesn't make you laugh to offset the frustration, it ain't worth it. The rest of the world is laughing at our politics, and unfortunately, I laugh with them sometimes as a personal defense mechanism. 14 minutes ago, K D said: We definitely could do with less women drivers End DEI driver's licenses! It wouldn't be very white, conservative male at all of us to admit we drive crazier than everyone, but we can 'handle it'. LOL Rolling coal to prove global warming is BS, because the smoke disappears eventually(and goes back to the emissions Gods). Edited February 13 by daz28 1

New admin comes in, makes some changes, and many accidents. Must be the fault of the people, who had an already proven track record. Makes sense. 1

Well, I just figured Trump had only been in office for a few weeks…No matter what policy he put into motion, the people already operating the planes or the air traffic control, had to have had those positions before Trump became president, no? It’s hard to believe, no matter how much you might want to, that Trump’s policies could have had that dramatic of an effect that soon into office…Just trying to think logically about it…👍

I'm just saying DEI doesn't make sense either. Ultimately, it's happening on his watch, and it was lame of him to shift the blame to DEI with not a shred of evidence, or even an opportunity to view any evidence. Pretty despicable. 1

If he had said it was definitely DEI, without knowing, I would agree… But he suggested it “might” have contributed to it, insinuating that he didn’t know for sure, and that there could have been other reasons as well… What advocates for DEI might not realize is whenever you introduce a system for hiring people, that uses other factors besides merit or competence, there will always be questions as to whether you are hiring the most qualified person… Biden announcing he was going to pick a black female for the Supreme Court was the worst thing he could have done…He thought he was doing something noble, but the unintended consequence was that it hurt Justice Brown’s credibility in the eyes of the public… Biden eliminated the pool of Asian, native, white, Hispanic, Arab, and male judges, with that single announcement…How were people supposed to think Brown was the most qualified, if Biden was eliminating 94% of potential candidates? Had DEI never been a thing, or Biden never have made the announcement, most people would not have thought twice about the pick…And Trump would not have wondered if DEI had contributed to the crashes…👍 1

I'm just saying what he said was undoubtedly not based on anything factual regarding information. If you want to call it spit-balling, then it was a lousy time for that. People/families wanted/needed answers. 1
