And how long before Wilson and Gaurdner want out as well? JMO Would Adams be worth a look for the Bills ? Would he still have money to be paid for from the Jets or who ever they got him from to where he might be able to have a friendly contract that Beane could get him & does he have enough left in the tank that he would be a asset to Josh and the offense ? I have always felt Josh and his game closely resembled that of Rogers in his prime and if Josh had a guy like Adams (if he was remotely the same guy) like he was with Rogers as a go too that would be a great addition . I haven't paid a lot of attention to Adams so i'm not sure if his game has fallen off but i know last year with the Bills acquiring Cooper could Adams at the right price be that guy this season for all the right reasons ? I doubt the jets trade him to us so its probably not going to get far. His guarantees are dried up though, and his base salary is enormous so he could be cut, which might make it more workable. 1 Quote

Jets already paid him the 35M signing bonus in 2023 and another 35M roster bonus in 2024. These cap hit numbers are the prorated amount from these bonus already paid. Jets will either take 49M cap hit this year or spread it to 14M cap hit this year and 35M cap hit next year, but no new money needs to pay to Rodgers anymore. Respectfully, I don't think that's how void years work. They count toward your cap whether the player is on the roster or not. Also, I don't care if they actually have to pay him, I care about the cap penalty they incur, which is brutal. Quote

Yes, prorated bonus still counts toward cap after a player being cut, however, it doesn’t spread to all those void years anymore. For cap penalty, if Jets use post June 1 designation on Rodgers, the cap hit is 14M in 2025 and 35M in 2026, nothing after. If they don't, the cap hit is 49M in 2025 and no more cap hit afterward.. It’s not what you original said “Jets are going to have to pay him $21M the next 2 years to NOT be on the team... and THEN $14M ... and THEN $7M“. The Sportrac page is the current cap hit before Rodgers is cut, not after. One thing to note is that Sportrac page includes the 35M roster bonus Rodgers is scheduled to receive in 2025, which of course he won't get after being cut when new league year starts in March. In other words, Jets don't need to pay actual money to him for this 35M 2025 roster bonus and this 35M won't count toward cap hit (once Rodgers is officially cut).
