How is this different than what was announced last week?

It's not. It's just that the Jets made it public today. But the actual story last week was that the Jets wanted him back, but only if he attended all off-season activities like OTA and minicamp. He refused.

NFL player evaluations should include a "weirdness" factor

Diggs had it, Rodgers for sure.  Nice guys in many ways on and off the field, but just WEIRD dudes.  Cryptic comments, bizarre behavior, It tends to eventually alienate them despite their ball skills.

Or guys who don't wear shoes or use utensils to eat or take elevators.

A Darnold return, as unlikely as it is, would be hilarious.

Even better hilarity - Geno Smith

Semi-seriously, I don't see the ingredients that allowed Darnold to be successful with the Vikings as present with the Jets:

1) good run game with Aaron Jones

2) decent OL in pass protect and run game

3) top-notch WR talent with Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and TJ Hockinson

We all assume he is signing somewhere but he could just retire. He has nothing to prove. He won a Super Bowl and is one of the all-time great QB's and a first ballot future HOF inductee.

Raiders.

I can't see pete carroll and tom brady letting him come in and upstage them as they try to fix a pretty broken organization.  I think they'd rather just trade for cousins, its the same bad sale to your fans but at least you aren't bringing in locker room drama.

Any interest in bringing Adams here if he does get his release. I would love to get GW in Buffalo, but it would be a cold day in hell before the Jets traded him here.

Adams would be interesting, not sure how happy he would be in a "everybody eats" environment...but he can still play.  I think the lure of a SB win with a team that was this close would keep him happy as long as we were winning.

Still, I would prefer a younger solution as father time always wins and injury risk with older players is always something to worry about.  But I don't hate the idea of Adams in Buffalo.

Buh bye Jerk

Someone needs to tell ESPN that Jay Glazer broke this "breaking news" 4 days ago.

I think if Adams were to come here that "everybody eats" motto goes out the window. Give Allen an elite level WR and they would dominate. We saw it with Diggs for a while.

And we saw Allen be turnover prone and the offense was not nearly as good as what it was this season which was historically great.  I really don't think they are interested in going back to that feed the ball to one guy style of offense, nor should they.  Doesn't mean you don't add a great talent, but I think that talent needs to buy in to what we do, not force us to change what we just did that led to Allens first MVP, the 16th best offense in NFL history, and numerous offensive team and individual records.
