Steelers approach Jags about a Trevor Lawrence Trade

I like it a lot as an idea for Pittsburgh. Makes way more sense than Aaron Rodgers. Don't understand why Jacksonville woule be interested though.

My concern would be the Steelers are a well-run organization and just got a good season out of the corpse of Russel Wilson.

Thus, what we've seen from Lawrence might not be his full potential. He was the consensus #1 overall pick for a reason.

 

I pray the Steelers don't get their hands on a young QB with big upside.

I don’t think the Jags owner has any clue at all as to how to run an NFL franchise…which means they will probably do something stupid like trade a guy they just paid and take on massive dead cap.

 

There are a few organizations in the league I wouldn’t want to touch with a 10-ft pole because of shoddy ownership…Jags, Jets, Browns…these teams specialize in doing the wrong thing almost every time.

Getting Trevor alone doesn’t fix things. Pittsburgh needs more on offense. I’m unsure if the issue is Trevor or the off system he’s played in and does he match Steelers system

Agree. Even if they get him, they are still behind the Ravens and Bengals in the AFCN.

I know this comment has nothing to do with the topic, but we are so fortunate to have Josh Allen. Let's not be typical Buffalo and waste this opportunity.

 

The Patriots were successful and won several Lombardis with players taking team-friendly contracts. Josh needs to step up his leadership role on the team.

Clemson was doing a lot of cheating when he was there. It got figured out the year Ohio State covered up their signs and beat them. So while I wondered how much that helped him look good in college and how he might struggle in the NFL without that aid, the thing that really bothered me was him laughing and joking around as that game came to a close. He didn’t seem to care at all that they lost - and badly - in the playoffs.

I wonder if they’re trying to drive up the price. It’s not like the Browns aren’t in the market and haven’t bent over in the recent past. It makes me think this is Lawrence driven. The Jags are a disaster so I could see him wanting out.

I think Herbert will do well going forward with Harbaugh. Despite the terrible playoff game against the Texans, he had a good year overall. The Chargers as a team had a good year overall. We know Harbaugh knows how to win. We saw it in SF and Michigan. Lawrence, I don't have the same confidence that he will do well going forward.

Not a chance. Most Patriots fans want to see a QB competition in training camp, especially after their "big" win over the Bills in the last game.

Milton is a lot more like EJ Manuel than he is like Josh Allen.  I've followed his career since he was recruited to Michigan and have detailed my analysis in other threads, so I won't get too deep into it here.  Milton has all the physical attributes and is a good kid (similar to EJ) and did look good against the Bills in a game that the Bills were trying to lose, but he doesn't have the accuracy and the ability to process the game fast enough to be a successful NFL starter.  There's a reason he was drafted in the 6th round.

This would be the single greatest thing to happen to Trevor Lawrence. Franchise & culture are so important. I think there is a franchise QB deep down inside him, but he just doesn’t have the proper supporting cast or coaching to really make the next step. Always liked the Steelers as my mom is from Pittsburgh. So many legendary players to come out of there. I hope they can swing that trade.

The Steelers culture and Jags culture are basically opposite. 
 

I’ve never been a Lawrence guy dating back to college. He never looked like the generational guy that he was made out to be. Lol, it’s one of the rare times that I feel vindicated for a bold opinion. With that being said, I’ve probably been a little harder on him than most calling him, “the most overrated player in football.” 🤣🤣 If he got to Pittsburgh though, I’d expect him to become a quality QB.
