I’d take any of these QBs ahead of Herbert:

Mahomes, Allen, Jackson, Burrow, Stroud, Stafford, Hurts, Daniels (yes, already), Dak, and Love. Herbert I’d have closer to Kyler Murray and Brock Purdy. Guys who are capable of making plays and winning games, but incapable of carrying a team. Maybe I should’ve said Lawrence is a more mistake-prone Herbert. They’ve both flashed at times and displayed big time ability, but I don’t believe in either of them for whatever reason.

That list is fair. Stroud, Stafford and Love would all be behind him for me at this point (that wasn’t always the case). Hurts is a gamer and Daniels looks like the next guy to move towards that top 4 group.

I like him as a project and wanted the Bills to take a late round flyer on him last year.

To me, it depends on your situation. Milton doesn’t make a ton of sense for a “win now” team like Pittsburgh. He makes a ton of sense for a bad team without a QB like NOLA, LV, Cleveland, NY or NY. Those teams should throw a dart and hope to harness that talent.

Pittsburgh is a "win now" team? Since when, seriously.

They hung on to Big Ben too long, and have basically been blown out in their last 6 playoff games, with their so-called Vaunted defense getting shredded.

IMHO they are much closer to the bottom falling out than the SB.

To be fair, he LOOKS like a franchise QB... but that's about it. He certainly doesnt play like one. And I never thought he ever did, even going back to Clemson.

He always seemed like a guy who made it that far because he's 6'6" 220lbs, and football teams just hoped he'd turn into a real QB some day.

I never thought his skill set would translate to the NFL. I was shocked that he was the #1 pick and compared to the greats. He was called a sure thing coming out.

They won 10 games with Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. They were really good until they collapsed over the last month or so. Going from those guys to Lawrence (who I don’t think is great) probably has them at like 12-5. That’s contending.

If I needed a QB if reach out to the patriots about Joe Milton

It was against backups but dude was super impressive. People in NE are excited about Maye (completing passes mostly in garbage time) but they need to give a serious look at Milton. He looked really really good. If Milton is legit he has the intangibles that you can't coach.

Pittsburgh calls Jacksonville about the possibility of a trade. Jacksonville leaks the call because they have no GM so no leadership in the office. Pittsburgh doesn't like that, so they called Pelissero and gives them that info.

They won two games without scoring a TD.

Milton is a lot more like EJ Manuel than he is like Josh Allen.  I've followed his career since he was recruited to Michigan and have detailed my analysis in other threads, so I won't get too deep into it here.  Milton has all the physical attributes and is a good kid (similar to EJ) and did look good against the Bills in a game that the Bills were trying to lose, but he doesn't have the accuracy and the ability to process the game fast enough to be a successful NFL starter.  There's a reason he was drafted in the 6th round.

Like that Brady kid?

Also possible. But I am always skeptical of offseason news. Agents, teams, and players use leaks to manipulate narratives.

A lot of journalists also looking  for a story to get paid for the week ….

Also true. I don't know about Pellisero, but Schefter's sources are agents and Rappaport's are front office personnel.

Kind of wild fake rumor, cap wise it seems hard to work but teams have in the past taken huge dead cap charges. Lawrence is a very professional person and a buy low candidate for a Steelers team needing a long term solution at QB. But I doubt the Jags are moving on from Lawrence and nor do they even have a GM.

Which is why they're searching for an upgrade at QB.

The team continues to find ways to win & get into the playoffs, despite having crappy QB production & while playing in one of the toughest divisions.

An actual good QB could definitely change things for them.

Interesting:

I doubt this goes anywhere but interesting on a couple of fronts. Clearly the Steelers are looking for a “win now” QB. Rodgers feels like a decent option. Maybe Darnold?  Maybe Cousins (despite his horrible year)? Maybe someone like Kyler or Geno? Who knows but it sounds like they are thinking outside the box.

Secondly, the Jags must be horrible to deal with 🤣🤣. I’m pretty confident that Pittsburgh didn’t want this out there.

Rando should try harder next time.  At least learn to spell Lawrence.  Next he will be talking about Joe Burrows and Drake May.

I wanted us to draft him last year. He would be a great back-up to Josh Allen.

Same here. I wanted him on the Bills prior to being drafted by NE. Guy oozes potential and would be a nice project for trade bait instead of proven losers like Trubisky (why is he ahead of Mike White on the depth chart?) Seems like they get Josh’s buddies as backups opposed to players with a higher ceiling.

Homeboy def gives off “Children of the Corn” vibes. Very weird looking. Remember the movie the Mask? Not the Jimmy Carrey one. It’s got Cher and Sam Elliott, actually it’s pretty good, but he definitely could play Rocky Dennis if they ever made a remake.
