Whose side are you on? Is Musk really overtaxed? Or are you overtaxed?

See, not only will average Americans pay more through tariffs, but you will also be saddled under a mountain of government debt. This will hurt future growth, threaten the long term viability of SS and medicare, the military while at the same time rendering our economy less efficient, profitable and dynamic. The trade wars that are to pay for this--through heavy taxation on average Americans, will mean a weaker economy, fewer choices for American consumers and less opportunity for innovation and cooperation.

Donald Trump does not care that this is stupid, hurts America and the majority of the people. He is just like Musk in that, they think they are superior humans, and that the economy should be for them, ergo, they shouldn't pay the taxes, YOU should.

The Republican House Budget resolution out Wednesday reveals the Ways and Means Committee will get $4.5 trillion to lock in tax cuts, one of President Donald Trump's major proposals.

The GOP also seeks an increase in the debt limit by $4 trillion, the resolution says.

The plan, which includes a substantial increase in the debt limit, highlights the party's commitment to making permanent the tax cuts enacted during the Trump administration.

What your describing is what was happening for the past 4 years. Is there anything that you don't blame Trump for?

Yes, he is a very stupid man

“Does President Trump understand money? ... the answer would appear to be no,” the WSJ editorial board replied, going on to explain why doing such a thing might cause inflation to soar—and Trump’s approval ratings to plunge.

“Perhaps the president wants the public to look elsewhere when assigning blame for rising prices,” it said.

Under the headline “Trumponomics and Rising Inflation,” the WSJ team went on to systematically dismantle Trump’s mental abilities. “The layers of intellectual confusion here are hard to parse,” it wrote, before reluctantly going on to try and parse them anyway.

The poor will have to hope they don't starve before those jobs come back from China.

Seriously, when has he ever made sense in anything complicated, and when did his followers ever care.  He could claim that he could jump the Snake River Canyon in a rocket, and they'd get all sentimental about Evil Knievel, and believe it.  Then they'd say, well, maybe he couldn't, then a few minutes later, they would say well he might be able to.

Trump has proposed ending tax on tips and with tariffs he has said paying income taxes would eventually become unnecessary. You would pay more to private companies to consume products but less of it would go to the government, which sounds like a good idea. We have already seen how inept the government is at spending our money. The politicians curiously end up richer than when they took office.

I'm really surprised more people aren't all over this one.  It's income!  Lot's of servers make DAMN GOOD money for unskilled labor.  Would it only be restaurants?  I could see other industries converting how they do business if not.  How about adding a 10% gratuity to your oil change after lowering the price 10%.  Things that never crossed trump's tiny mind.

Wait? Falling sales AND more inflation?

Stagflation!

https://www.cnbc.com/2025/02/14/retail-sales-slumped-0point9percent-in-january-down-much-more-than-expected-.html

Retail sales slipped 0.9% for the month from an upwardly revised 0.7% gain in December, worse than the Dow Jones estimate for a 0.2% decline.

Excluding autos, prices fell 0.4%, also well off the consensus forecast for a 0.3% increase, while the “control” sales group slid 0.8%.

Import prices accelerated 0.3% in January, in line with expectations for the largest one-month move since April 2024.

Hey num nuts, did you see where the EU charges to US some 10% tariffs on all automobile imports from Europe but the US only charges 2.5% on imports from the US into the EU boy that sounds real far doesn't it ?

I don't claim to know a ton about this kind of thing but when people like you only spew BS to serve your own personal narrative it just shows your true colors & that your only motivation is through hatred and that your bias and Trump syndrome is still alive and well .

Trump himself even said that this may cause higher prices at first but if they get rid of their tariffs then he would do away with those implemented by the US too, but you think it's okay for this type of thing to continue for the US to pay out more for every thing than other countries do us just because we are the US .

Yeah, it's brilliant if you want to shift the tax burden from the very rich to the very middle class.  It's a consumption tax, which people like Steve Forbes have long thought is a wonderful idea.  If it's good for Steve Forbes, then it's probably not going to be good for you.  And yes, you would pay more to private companies to acquire products.  But that's essentially reimbursing the private companies for the up-front tax those companies paid to either import goods or to pay higher rates for unskilled domestic labor to produce those goods.

And protects many domestic companies from the very thing that makes business better, competition with foreign businesses.

Remember the auto industry of the early 1970's? The Big three made trashy stuff until the Japanese showed them how its done

Tesla's blowing up all over the place need protection I guess

I'm currently paying more in taxes than many people in my area's yearly income and then I find out that it's going towards Trans parades in Nicaragua so I would be perfectly happy giving my money to private businesses rather than the government. They have already found hundreds of billions of fraudulent payments and woke judges are saying no you have to keep paying them. It's pure insanity that I want no part of. I'd gladly pay more for goods and services if it goes towards American jobs. Tariff the crap out of all imports and make things here.

That's the thing.  The businesses pay the tax up front, and you reimburse the business.  And, in that scheme, more of the tax burden is shifted to the middle class.  So you're still funding taxes, only your payment is indirect.
