You need to have a certain amount of cash down to pay out big contracts .. something he's never wanted to do 

 

He has the smallest college scouting staff in the NFL.. and probably the smallest cash to cap

Well when you look at the eagles and the way they leverage future cap with void years - everyone does it they do it to a saints level of excess.  You'll see that the bengals... don't.  Draft is important for everyone to get contributors on rookie deals so you can extend your window, but for a team like cincy it becomes even more complicated since the cap hits for players they pay are so high.  

 

They have almost 50M in cap space but they're losing - BJ hill, Tee Higgins, and Mike HIlton.  Gesicki was also a major contributor for them who's a free agent.  Hendrickson, Hubbard, and Rankins all expire in 2026.  Chase is "under contract" but wants to be the highest paid WR in football, and is going to holdout if he doesn't get it.  It would lower his cap hit for 2025 but the bengals contract structure is going to make cap hits well into the 30-40M range in 2026 and beyond.

He’s a durable as they come.  I’d see if we could trade Bernard and a late pick for him.  He has one year left at 7M- might be had for 5M aav after this season.  
 

I love me some TB- but I don’t think we should pay him 10M+ due to his injury history. I feel like he’s going to be injured half of every season.

 

Pratt seems like better value. 

 

I felt the same way about Spencer Brown though.

He had a down year, giving up his highest QB rating since his rookie season, but he’s always been known as a coverage LB. He’s a converted safety with mid 4.5 speed. I wanted him on the Bills as a UFA a few years ago.

Meh I don't think he has ever been great in coverage. He had a career year generally in 2022 but otherwise he has been pretty mid IMO and struggles in coverage at the NFL level.
