I think it matters because he's unequivocally and publicly set his contract demands at $15M per season. If you make those statements and then end up taking less it makes you look like you "lost" by agreeing to less. Its just a bad practice. I wonder if Cook agrees his social media comments don't mean anything. If so, why post them at all? Talk to your agent, talk to the GM. Sit down and discuss your contract privately. I agree that telling you and me doesn't matter and we can't impact what he gets or doesn't get so why tell us anything?

Unequivocally? I don't think so.

I think what we see happening right now says a lot about the organization and the situation with Cook.

We have seen three guys who come to work, do their jobs, and keep anything like this out of the public eye get rewarded with contract extensions. Shakir, Bernard, Groot, all locked up for the next 5 years. I also fully expect Benford to be extended before we hear anything on Cook.

Cook puts out there he wants $15M per year, scrubs his SM of Buffalo, plays into it with his SM reactions, and you can hear the crickets. It doesn't mean that Beane isn't working behind the scenes, but I think it's telling these guys got taken care of first. We'll see what happens, but my gut feeling is Cook gets traded.

That is your opinion.  Josh had his lowest INT because he was throwing the ball to Shakir and not Davis.

Last year Shakir had 1 INT in 100 targets.  Last 2 seasons with Bills Davis had 12 INTs on 174 targets.

That along with the drops is why Davis is not on the team.

Davis doesn't throw the passes...and it's hard to throw an INT from 2.9 yards from the WR--Shakir was a dump off/checkdown receiver who's YPC cratered this past season.  1600 yards, 7 CDs over 3 years.  54% of catches for 1st downs.  In 2021, Diggs had 6 of Josh's 15 INTs (Davis 2).

Davis had 3000 yards and 27 TDs in 4 seasons with the Bills. Only 3 drops his last year in Buffalo (compare to $20 million King of Drops Amari Cooper) and zero on 42 targets in nJax.  In Buffalo, 77% of his catches were for 1st downs, another 17% were TDs--an insane yield.  There's no real comparison regarding these receivers' productivity in Buffalo.  Getting rid of Davis to then pay a WR3 the same money wasn't a value proposition.

Those are simple facts, not opinion...

I feel cook is the odd man out. Maybe would have been signed except for the Barkley contract.  Problem is? Cook is good, but he’s not Saquan or Henry.

Cook at 10 million? Sure

At 15? GTFO

He greatly benefits from Josh and that oline. Put him on the Raiders and he would likely look like a jag

Moving on from Gabe was one of the most stark examples of addition by subtraction that I've seen.

You think Cook's agent hasnt received any offer from the Bills?

Didn't say he hasn't. It's entirely possible. Do you think the Bills FO is gonna let childish behavior dictate their offer, if there is one? What do you think they learned from the Diggs ordeal?

This is nothing like Diggs.

Cook making some social media posts does not affect his offer(s) at all. AT ALL.

Cook making salary demands and pulling the child-like reaction of taking down anything Bills related on SM thinking it improves his case might have more of an effect than you believe. They just traded one diva for a 2nd.

It blows my mind how triggered some of you supposedly grown ass men get by a few social media comments. My daughter and her friends dont even have this much drama.

Diggs was having huge blowouts with the Head Coach, in front of everyone, on the first day of OTAs.

Cook posted 3 emojis in comments this week.

They are not the same.

If he gets traded, it has nothing to do with social media. The offer he received from the Bills has nothing to do with social media.

Beane has his number. Social media posts do not change that number.

I'm not triggered at all. Sign him to an extension, trade him, let him play out the year on his current deal then walk, I don't care. He's a good player. Not $15M a year good imo. But hey, it is what it is. It IS quite childlike to take down anything involving your current employer, and thinking it somehow helps your case in what you're looking for though. The oppressed RB making $5.2M. Terrible.

The whole point is these other guys who just got signed to extensions, we never heard a word or saw anything like this out of them.

Fair enough, I agree with most of your first paragraph.

The social media stuff is the way it is nowadays. He isnt the first to do it, and wont be the last. And he wont be the first to do it and still get a big contract. Fans are best off just ignoring it since it simply does not matter.

My whole point is, I dont think these other guys not making any noise has anything to do with them getting extensions. If anything, it's more that none of them are on the same level as Cook and are just happy to be getting any 2nd contract in the NFL whatsoever. They're all mid-tier players. Cook is a top 5 (3?) RB in a league that has recently seen a resurgence in RBs.

IMO, getting Cook re-signed is where Beane makes his actual money. Anyone can get guys like Bernard or Shakir to sign a $12M/yr deal. Keeping top talent like Cook is what we really need to see.

Funny how different opinions on him can be.

I’d give Beane that credit if he got a second or high third for him.

But he's on the Bills and had 16 TDs last season, over 1000 yards,  big play TD runs,  a huge part of our offense that got us to the  AFCCG

We should sign him long term.

We really have a mixed room on this ! 👍

have to trust the Beane and Brady on this one

I will admit I can see both sides of this situation.  I have gone back and forth on it a number of times.

I keep coming back seeing him wanting to sign above all the $12M+ RBs.  That puts him at a minimum of $12.5M as his floor.

That's just above Kamara.  One minute I say do that and the next I say sign Johnson to a 3-year deal and/or draft another rookie.

I agree it's going to be a tough decision for Beane and Brady.
