You don't think Saquon Barkley resetting the Running Back market at 21m annually has any effect on James Cook coming down from 15? You're fooling yourself. He's a lesser player for sure, but not 9-10m less.

Who the F cares?  Before anyone compares to Diggs, Diggs was the most selfish/demanding player around the team in addition to his typical social media comments.

 

Cook is pretty much the exact opposite, as a teammate-- according to Josh, other players, and coaches/Beane.

 

I'd love to see Josh scrub all his social media of Bills content, and watch the insanity ensue from the psycho social media pundits.

 

Reality is this is how player negotiations occur via social media.  The "we" crowd is taking things to the extreme/getting personally offended by a huge nothing burger.

The closest player, in terms of contract etiquette at the moment, is Tee Higgins.  A guy who is being tagged for the second time by his team.   
 

(and yes, I’m biased.. I don’t want to pay a RB 10M, let alone what Cook is asking for)

As much as I appreciated Cook, I'm in the camp that we can spend our resources at other positions. I'd be happy to draft a young player from this very talented RB class. 

 

I really appreciate the effort that cook gave last season, especially during the AFC championship game. That 4th down effort was heroic!

 

Don't take it personal guys,it's just business.  He deserves to seek the maximum amount, but just not from the Bills. Anything north of $12M is a little too rich in my opinion. 

 

Heck of a player though.

Beane needs to draw up a contract that Cook's agent can brag about being 15 per, but structure in such a way that the guaranteed money and cap hits are nowhere near 15. That makes it a win-win.

I wouldn't get too upset about his tweets.  Beane is smart enough to know its a ploy.   They know Cook's value.  Its somewhere between 9-10 million a year.  He isnt as good as Barkley, McCaffrey or Jacobs.  He doesnt give you nearly what Kamara gives the Saints in the passing game.   He is a 2 down back who struggles in pass protection.   You dont pay runningbacks who play 47% of the snaps 15-20 million dollars a year.

 

The Bills are playing with all the cards here.    He's under contract for next season.   They can trade him but dont have to.    They can keep him on the roster and gradually reduce his carry share to Ray Davis.  Or he can hold out.  In any of those scenarios the Bills dont have to pay him.  In any of those scenarios Cook still remains a 26, going on 27 year old running back who isnt worth the money he wants and likely wont get it.

Im sure Saints fans feel the same way when they’ve essentially had to punt on seasons due to cap constraints.

We currently employ a 3 headed rushing attack. It's effective, but I'm not sure it's preference or because cook is a liability as far as pass blocking is concerned. There is no way the bills break the bank for a rb that plays roughly 50 percent of the snaps. I like cook, but he can go get paid somewhere else.
