Cray51 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Cook is worth $12M to this offense, and I'd push for that amount to see if Cook would sign. The cap is consistently going up, so maybe after this year $15M is the new $12M... However I do feel we have the flexibility to pay him 13-15M if that's what it takes to get it done. Cook is the most intriguing situation for this year - I go back and forth on re-signing him often. 1 Quote

They played the 2nd and 3rd stringer over him with a chance to goto the Super Bowl There is not a chance they pay him 15 mil a year.... That's a problem in itself. What would Andy Reid have done? Cook is a game breaker and changer..You have to pay him the money. I like Cook. Prefer him to be signed. Don’t see 15 million. Remember, we do have a bunch of guys who need to be signed. And Josh should be up for contract bump. 1 1 Quote
Roundybout Posted February 12 Posted February 12 I don’t see $15 million. As much as I like Cook and badly want him extended, that’s an awful lot. I hope the FO asks him to take $10-12 and reminds him that they need to upgrade a ton of other positions. See if he would take less to keep the “band back together” or not. Quote
Nephilim17 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Glad to see some sanity here. As many have said: you don't pay him that much when A) he can't block B) we need elite players on the D-line and C) we need a bona fide outside receiver with speed and hands. No thanks. Fun watching him in 2024 but I'll take a 3rd for him after this year if he plays and if he holds out, trade his a**. 1 Quote
Steptide Posted February 12 Posted February 12 How about 9-10 mil/yr with incentives. Even that sounds insane for a running back to me in this modern nfl Quote
SCBills Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Yikes.. That's too bad.. If that's truly his bar, I have to think he becomes expendable in a trade. Hopefully it's just posturing. Quote

FireChans Posted February 12 Posted February 12 It was nice knowing you James. What do we think he’d fetch in a trade now? 1 Quote

IMO, J Cook should be a central figure in the trade for a Garrett or Crosby. It makes a lot of sense to me. Quote

I think the Raiders and Browns are the exact type of stupid teams to highly value a young "superstar" RB. A perfect trade chip for getting Maxx or Myles. However ... important to note ... player for player trades are exceedingly rare. 1 Quote
Buffalo_Stampede Posted February 12 Posted February 12 (edited) Cook is the most explosive player on our offense. I would like to see the Bills use him as a 3 down RB moving forward. We don’t have any high priced WRs. We have a part time TE with cap hits in the $15 million range, but he’s off the books soon. Our OL is locked up. I think a 3 year deal is doable. Probably closer to $12-$13 million with incentives to make more. 3 years around $40 million. Edited February 12 by Buffalo_Stampede 1 1 Quote

Right now he’s neither. Edited February 12 by Buffalo_Stampede Quote

Typically these deals just get done and we're surprised by a twitter/x post from the Bills. 2 Quote
US Egg Posted February 12 Posted February 12 No contract by TC, he doesn’t report? That’s perfectly fine. Quote

He definitely improved on the drops this season, but his pass blocking leaves a lot to be desired. Not that he's bad by any means, but it's just never been a strength in his skillset. I certainly believe in him as a player and think he could get better, but I also fully understand there's a reason why he only plays 50% of the snaps and doesn't take the field on 3rd downs or in two-minute drills. In the Chiefs game, he got blown up on that play before the Dalton Kincaid drop, and that blocking issue resulted in Josh rushing the throw that he missed to Curtis Samuel. That’s why Ty Johnson is in on 3rd down and the 2 minute offense (where most of the plays will be passes). 1 Quote
T master Posted February 12 Posted February 12 There's no way Beane goes for $15 a yr no matter how good he is unless he's Bo Jackson ! He was great this year for the Bills and i hope they can bring him back but if that's his statement and his brother is chirping for more he's all but gone and they need to re up Ty I think he may be able to be a 3 down back . How has Gore Jr. done i've not heard any thing about him through out last season i think i heard his name mentioned in 1 game . There are a lot of good players on the team that need new contracts so it should prove to be interesting, if nothing else maybe Beane could give him a contract with higher than expected yardages and such as incentives built in to keep him motivated because he proved on that dive for the TD in the AFC Championship game he can get it done when motivated !!
