Pay Cook.

He's one of our players who shows up and makes plays when the games are biggest (except when he's standing there on the freaking sideline holding his helmet when we need a drive in the AFC Title Game, but I digress...)

That's a skill you can't put a price tag on. The guy is excellent at what he does and is one of our few reliable offensive weapons.

Remember that Cook took a few seasons to really develop. We don't want to start over right now at RB. This team needs some urgency.

If you can sign Cook at a reasonable number, then do it, but running backs typically have a short shelf life and with his slight frame he's going to start hitting injuries in the not too distant future.  Also, keep in mind that you can find a quality running back on day 2 of the draft.  Cook was the last pick of round 2 and Tampa found a Bucky Irving in the 4th round last year.

Id assume 11-13 per.  I was going off 15 because that is apparently the sky is falling number.  Cap allocation comes down to how creative they want to be.  They could say they cant sign anyone because they are currently negative cap wise. They can create 10 mil 15 mil 50 mil.  With whatever they do they can use void years to minimize whatever cap hit they want for that cap.  Thats why im not looking at has a hard number because all the different variables are at the teams disposal to say and do what they want with them.  Again Philly has 359,000,000 in void years money and Buffalo has 35,000,000.  Start of camp I want a better team on paper than the one that played in January.  Starting by trading away a starter and a pick they hit on for another pick in the same rd or less doesn't help get us there.  Cook is included for Parsons or Garrett now Im listening.  Outside of that I see it as a net loss.

Your low end of $11M is not much different than the $10.5M AAV I used in my example, but it is significantly different than the $15M for which you had been advocating. I’ll stress that the $10.5M AAV is on new years only in my example. I thought would be a fair compromise and realistic MV.

Cash is what matters to players. Structure is largely about cap management. I have no problem giving Cook a nice signing bonus this offseason and taking his salary down to vet min this season and next. I would try to limit guarantees to the first two seasons, but a partial in year 3 would be on the table for a longer extension.

He's branded it for his business interests - after staring at my user name for 5 years. No way it's an original thought.

I mean, maybe reach out first?

The counter to this is that he was barely used as much more than a receiving back at UGA and has been in a timeshare here.

The tread on his tires is about as low

as it could be for a RB entering Year 4 that is regarded as well as Cook is.

That said.. if we can get a Day 2 Pick this year, I’d trade him.

We need DL, WR and Secondary.

Cook is a luxury that if we’re too far off on a number with, isn’t worth the hassle.

So your "IP" and your "Brand" is literally just your username for this message board?

Did you file for a Trademark/Copyright? If not, you have no claim to call it your "IP" or your "Brand". It's just a handle you go by.

And whether he came up with the name coincidentally or he straight up thought your user name would be a good name - unless you got a copyright for it, he doesn't have to ask you and there's really nothing you can do about it.

If you've got the Trademark, send him a cease and desist. If you don't, it's kind of embarrassing to be making a million posts calling him out for "infringing your brand" when no infringement has happened, as it's not your "IP".

you don't think a guy making his living on Bills chitchat doesn't read or post on the biggest team chat site?

he's here - and probably bases most of his takes on the things he reads here - not to mention the google search name of his site. it's proprietary.

pretty slick name actually .. 👍

(I mead out the number of my posts based on the necessity and communal benefit of my exegesis)

Same thread actually. But thanks for looking out for corporate.

Not so much "looking out for corporate" as it is stating facts.

You've been making all these posts using terms like "IP" and "Infringement". Claiming it's a "brand issue and can be fixed up np". Implying there's some legal wrongdoing that should be remedied with you.

When the fact of the matter is none of that applies to your situation, unless you've filed the name and own it. Sorry that he used the same name as your handle, but Joe doesn't owe you anything and it's more likely than not a coincidence. And again, even if it isn't, it's still not your 'IP' or 'Brand' unless you legally own it with the official paperwork to back that up.

I mean... I just want to know how and why this "herd mentality" and Joe Marino discussion came up in a thread on James Cook posting about $15 mil on social media, but I have a feeling there is no good answer to that.

Joe isn't on here.

But this https://x.com/TheJoeMarino is his twitter, his DMs are open and he is responsive (if you DM him about something sensible). Shoot your shot.
