RB values will increase after the years of Saquon & Henry. Mixon signed for $10M last year, has more miles and is a 2 down guy. Cook outperformed him all year. If Cook went into FA today, what do you believe he would get? As you said, that $5.5M number isn’t in the ball park. It would be twice that without question. He may not get to $15M but there’s zero chance that he’s less than $10M. Now he’s in position to get market value. He’s proven to be a very valuable member of this offense.

Chase Brown (a 5th round pick) was just as efficient in the Bengals offense in 2024 as Mixon was in 2023.  His cap hit was $956k last year compared to the $10m that Mixon got with the Texans.  If Beane doesn't pay him (I don't think he should) than it'll be interesting if he trades him and takes a RB in a deep RB draft or plays hardball with him and dares him to sit out the season.

Either way, don't pay him. Make him try and sit out.

For all the NYGiants GMs on here talking about RBs being a dime a dozen, let’s not forget Cook led the league in rushing TDs.

Giants don’t have Franchise QB. So the focus for opposing teams was making the QB beat you and stop the run.

Negotiating by making a fuss on social networking sites is unacceptable.
The team does not need a player who behaves like that, no matter how good he is.
I used to be in favor of signing Cook to an extension, but now I am the opposite.

I think at its core the only reason anyone feels the need to pay cook handsomely is our lack of speed/playmakers on the perimeter.

he’s a very good player but specifically our only non qb that feels electric when he touches the ball

hopefully we can find a receiver like that, whether or not we keep cook

Can they trade him to the Raiders for Max Crosby?

Not straight up, but he could be part of a package. If he even considers holding out, I hope the Bills ship him out of there asap. RBs are in no position to do that kind of thing unless your name is Saquon or McCaffrey. Anytime a player takes to social media for contract issues, it is an automatic dealbreaker for me. Love his playing style, but his personality always rubbed me the wrong way. I felt the same exact way about pre-drama Diggs and my gut was correct.

Package him w/ a 2nd & 4th and get Crosby (who I prefer because he is 3 years younger) or Garrett. If not possible, then get whatever you can get. His value is the highest it will ever be. Buffalo does NOT need another drama filled offseason. Have people not learned from Diggs? The over-inflated self worth, the NFL brother getting involved, taking to social media. Get him out here. Ray Davis & Ty Johnson are still a very formidable tandem. Both are better receivers as well and TJ brings elite pass blocking.

The Raiders didn't want to pay Josh Jacobs. What makes you think they would trade for Cook, and then have to pay him, all while sending us back their best player?

Someone more ambitious than I am should go back to some of the threads before and after the trade of Marshawn Lynch.

They should look at all of the immensely ignorant and flat out stupid things that were said in regards to unloading by far the best player on the team, how that would be a good thing.

How many of the same yahoos saying we should unload Lynch, and for some of the same type of mega stupid reasons, are now calling for Cook to be let go?  And what kind of mega stupid reasons did people have for that bizarre move, the worst the Bills have ever made.

I think we'd,  at the very least, see the parallels in the level of arrogance, idiocy, and stupidity.

His brother tweeted "$20M" about 1000x during the season. James must owe him money or something.

I fully expect a hold out this summer.

We gotta stop putting players on the team that have brothers in the NFL.

I say trade him now as his value has peaked.  I go with Davis, re-Sign Johnson, And Draft a guy.  Gore is still there to get reps and be on the PS.  Use him and our 1st to trade up or trade for a vet Defensive player.

Never pay running backs.

It's a tired old, worn out cliche, that maybe had an iota of validity for 2 years. (But is your post a joke on that, or real?)

It is pure stupidity today.  Would be just as ridiculous to say never pay cornerbacks, wide receivers, lineman... just as ignorant--no basis in facts or reality.

It is the same philosophy that the WORST teams in the NFL still rely on to make their awful decisions.  Please see the Giants, Raiders, Titans, Bengals...   and see how their belief in that dumb cliche, with no basis in reality, worked out for their teams.

And then look at the teams  those misguided mega dumb teams they traded with...

I like the trade him to move up in this draft idea....with any of the first 3 picks we seem to be about 15 or so picks away from that first tier of positions of need. Something to definitely consider 🤨

You say stupid many times here, but the reasons for getting rid of Lynch were all about his off field issues and the likelihood that he would do something massively stupid to be hit hard by the league. The fact that he later kept his nose clean is hind sight.

That situation is nothing like the one with Cook who is a clean guy off the field.

I get and appreciate your point. But in regards to Cook, he isn't a good blocker, it took 17 games to get to 1000 (which isn't good) and he was off the field for a reason on 3rd downs.   He isn't worth a ton of money.  I love Davis and feel he can easily be a full-time back, re-sign Johnson, and draft a guy.

usually rough situations take both sides pushing the limits of common courtesy

Deep draft at RB. I agree that there will be very good RB prospects available on day 3.
