I mean it was nice to see the Chefs get smashed but it was one of the crappiest Super Bowls ever because the Iggles can eat mah shorts just the same. It was like Giant D*uche vs Turd Sandwich.

I went in to the game with a similar Giant D*uche vs Turd Sandwich perspective. And for sure it was a crappy game - seemed like time travel because when I grew up crappy SB's felt like the norm.

With that said, I enjoyed the hell out of watching the Chefs get cooked and I'm glad I watched from start to finish. Good times.

Shouldn't it be a record every year because the population increases every year? They need to find a way to normalize the ratings from a base year, similar to how they do inflation. Or just report the percentage of viewers to non viewers.

The Chiefs getting pummeled might have actually HELPED ratings. I guess we'll never know.

…..or get someone different to arrange them. Last five been orchestrated by same bunch.

Think I heard Jay Z/Roc Nation has put together the last few halftime shows, which is why they’ve all been hip hop. I’ve never liked Kendrick Lamar’s nasally voice so I didn’t tune in for longer than a minute. Have no idea what Samuel L Jackson was doing out there but also don’t care enough to find out why.

People checking in still counts. I get it most are tired of the chiefs but to keep making excuses is ridiculous. People obviously tuned in.

By what metric? These metrics propped up by these corporations to get headlines and clout is just like Beyonce winning a Grammy.

Anecdotally it didn't help with the New Jersey Giants fan base. While I was reveling in the Chiefs loss they were wallowing in misery at the Eagles domination. The ones I know turned it off 3rd quarter. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

There is a caveat to all these numbers.

They altered the way they assessed how many people were watching this one.

“Nielsen, which has been adding out-of-home viewing to its TV audience estimates, said its out-of-home measurement system now covers 100% of the population of the United States, a change that will boost the already high viewership of the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Previously, Nielsen said its out-of-home measurement covered 60% of the country. The new metrics start in February (or January 27 on the Nielsen calendar).

Networks, particularly those who carry sports, have lobbied Nielsen and the media buying agencies to have out-of-home viewing included in the ratings for big games. The addition of OOH viewing has given the games a boost that is sometimes in the double-digit range.

“Nielsen continues to innovate and adapt with our industry,” said Karthik Rao, Nielsen CEO. “We’re working hard every day to better capture what people are watching and where. The communal power of TV is undeniable and with this out-of-home expansion, we can more accurately provide the industry with the most-complete picture of the viewing audience.”

Nielsen gives members of its research panel wearable devices to measure viewing in places including bars, restaurants, health clubs and hotels. Starting February 3, the additional out-of-home viewing data will be included in Nielsen data, including its Big Data + Panel ratings for Super Bowl LIX on Fox.”

They can thank gambling being legal now for their ratings success.

Shocking move!  First hit is free.

I suspect a large number of boycotters tuned in by the second quarter when they found out Kermit was getting wrecked🧐

The average viewer doesn't care about narratives.

It costs $8 million to air a 30 second Super Bowl commercial. I don't think these advertisers are getting duped with false numbers.

That’s what they want you to think.

I didn't watch the first half because the Chiefs three peat would lead to the nauseating Mahomes fawning, the whole Kelce/Swift thing is just too irritating, the Eagles weren't a likable team, and I thought Kendrick Lamar was a country singer.  We were playing cards instead of watching at our yearly Super Bowl party.  I checked my phone and I saw the score was 24-0 at half with Mahomes throwing two picks.  I double checked my phone to make sure someone didn't hack the ESPN app.

We then turned the game on and it was apparent I was wrong about Kendrick Lamar being a country singer.  He was awful but at least he wasn't a country singer.  Then I watched the most glorious Super Bowl 2nd half of my life and even re-watched it last night.  They had all these three peat graphics ready to go.  They still used them but it only enhanced the Chiefs failure of accomplishing it.  The misery on the Chiefs sideline is something I'll cherish forever.

Kendrick Lamar isn’t a singer period.

They aren't going to make up numbers. I feel it's a bunch of bitter fans that don't want to believe they are wrong

Nope not at all. Reading that tells me they are getting a more accurate number.

Instead let's keep this boycott going.
