Brand J Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago If you guys recall, going into the conference championship games the most popular SB matchups - from best to least - were: Bills vs Commanders Bills vs Eagles Chiefs vs Commanders Chiefs vs Eagles There was then talk about boycotting the SB over questionable officiating and many others said they simply weren’t interested enough to watch. Well, the ratings are out, and the NFL has set yet another record: Quote Despite the game being a blowout, Sunday night’s Super Bowl averaged a record 127.7 million U.S. viewers across television and streaming platforms for Philadelphia’s 40-22 victory over Kansas City. https://apnews.com/article/super-bowl-ratings-fox-nielsen-eagles-chiefs-e0c22b0e956e16637870110140933cea Guess more needed to boycott. beebe Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago The number would have been a good bit higher if the game wasn't terrible, so it's an impressive number. That being said, it gets easier to set new ratings records every year w the various simulcast/streaming options. Without knowing next year's matchup, I'd predict it will be record setting. Same with the year after that and probably the year after that. 1 1 Quote
BuffaloMatt Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago (edited) Don't forget the imapct that gambling has on viewership. And I hate to say it Taylor Swift had an impact with certain demographics. Edited 3 hours ago by BuffaloMatt 1 Quote
Doc Brown Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago (edited) I didn't watch the first half because the Chiefs three peat would lead to the nauseating Mahomes fawning, the whole Kelce/Swift thing is just too irritating, the Eagles weren't a likable team, and I thought Kendrick Lamar was a country singer. We were playing cards instead of watching at our yearly Super Bowl party. I checked my phone and I saw the score was 24-0 at half with Mahomes throwing two picks. I double checked my phone to make sure someone didn't hack the ESPN app. We then turned the game on and it was apparent I was wrong about Kendrick Lamar being a country singer. He was awful but at least he wasn't a country singer. Then I watched the most glorious Super Bowl 2nd half of my life and even re-watched it last night. They had all these three peat graphics ready to go. They still used them but it only enhanced the Chiefs failure of accomplishing it. The misery on the Chiefs sideline is something I'll cherish forever. Edited 3 hours ago by Doc Brown 4 1 1 Quote
Fleezoid Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago It's still the SB no one wanted. I believe there was a very large contingent of folks that didn't watch, including me. And most of the folks that did tune in, probably watched to see the Chiefs lose. And I don't trust the NFL not to skew the ratings numbers. 4 1 Quote

Aussie Joe Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago It was still a dud game though… Wonder how the Bills would have gone instead ? Initially I thought they wouldn’t have been up to challenging the Eagles either… but Josh and the O line would have certainly kept it closer …. Probably Saquon would have had 200 yards though … Quote
SoCal Deek Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago It’s the Super Bowl! Everyone watches it. Not sure what the story is here. 1 Quote

Biggest sporting event of the year. Plus, the next game isn't until August when they play meaningless preseason games. I didn't pay attention to the halftime show. The NFL should do away with that as most years it is just terrible. 1 Quote

sullim4 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I was in El Chalten, and slept through it fighting a cold. Hiked Fitz Roy/Laguna de los Tres the next day. I'd say I got the better end of that deal. Quote

HomeTeam Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I can proudly say I did my part. It was tough not to put the game on come 6pm but I stuck to my principles. Besides it's no way to live rooting for the demise of others. I'm confident that the bills will continue to get better and will get over the hump. Go bills! Quote
boyst Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago 100% don't believe it is accurate. Most people watched via broadcast month monitored means. People watched in sections. To see the chiefs lose, people checked in then left. That's about it. 1 Quote

I'm thinking these record viewing numbers in many games are being broken because of one thing, technology. Streaming and digital means of watching allows them to get much more accurate numbers than the old terrestrial ways of watching. Sure the sport has grown and that has contributed, but I have zero faith in the ways they came about getting those numbers in the past. Edited 1 hour ago by Herc11 1 Quote

People obviously tuned in. Quote
blacklabel Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I mean it was nice to see the Chefs get smashed but it was one of the crappiest Super Bowls ever because the Iggles can eat mah shorts just the same. It was like Giant D*uche vs Turd Sandwich. 1 Quote
kitchen sink Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I hope they didn't count me because I did not watch one second of that joke. Quote
