True… but you can only add so much talent each year and you have to balance the pay to meet the cap.  
 

Sooo…. Given the current state of this team.   We just had an offense score more points than anyone else in the league, in 2024.   On the other hand, we almost gave up the game in the divisional round after the Ravens came back.  And we allowed KC to score more points than they did all year.  
 

So where do you put your resources?   Offense or defense. If I’m GM. I spend every draft pick and FA dollar on the defensive side of the ball. After breaking into the Eagles courtroom and stealing their draft grades.

The Bills scored more points than anyone. The offense still isn’t good enough. Both of those are true. The offense has some clear holes and allows defenses to defend them too easily. They need to improve.

Imo the only thing they need is a true number 1 receiver, assuming everyone else plays as good as they did this year. Also, better tight end play, but don't think we need to replace either tight end at this point. Our wr's are mid. We all hope Coleman improves, but I wouldn't count on that, we need a true number 1

I feel like you are really exaggerating on elite. The Bills have a good run game, but Ravens and Eagles are elite, we aren't even that close there. Also, Shakir is good, but he is not an elite receiver. Coleman and Samuel are complimentary pieces, not the #1 they need. They had trouble against good man coverage, I don't think the offense is as set to be a championship caliber one right now.

I’m more or less in agreement (assuming that guy can stretch the field vertically). I’d like a precise route runner too but if that guy is the right one, I’m good.

We need a championship defense.  We scored the most points in the NFL counting the playoffs.   Fun fact, during the Kelly years, the Bills gave up 33 total points in 4 AFC championships.   Imagine a divisional round or AFC championship game , where McDs defense just gives up 20 points in the final game, how many times would we have advanced?    Im not asking for the 85 bears D, just something close to competent.

Just saying , we could score till we started faltering in the last two playoff games ( really we got lucky a dropped pass let us beat the ravens. If we didn’t score in reg , we have never won in ot , so a defensive stand would have been required and that was very unlikely). , 
 

Our d has been our downfall every year , so run back that o , which was beginning to be figured out , let alone give def coordinators an off season to combat “everybody eats”   You have Josh and cook with a breakout season and we saw how not having at least one other threatening star talent was stopped by KC once again.  The team we haven’t beaten in 4 tries in the playoffs ( because we gave up 32points this year) , literally got 6 points till garbage time against a legit d. They were destroyed by a good front 4 forcing errors , and they were never in the game. So run back that o all you want ( it needs dynamic talent in the wr position), but if that d isn’t drastically improved it will be the same as it always has;   D WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS, always does , and despite a defensive HC, this has been a wasted 8 years with the D ALWAYS BEING THE SUBSTANDARD PERFORMERS at crunch time , wasting away vital years of a superstar qb ( even an MVP OFFENSIVE SEASON DIDNT ALLOW THE BILLS TO SNIFF THE SUPERBOWL).  
 

     Not saying it wasn’t a good offensive production year for the bills , but that is proof above all else , it doesn’t matter how you score as many teams can score.  It’s about stopping the run, controlling the line , pressuring the qb AND SACKING HIm,and that is the proven formula to a Lombardi.  The only exception I remember was the greatest show on turf , but the had HOF qb, rb, and wr and their d still made a critical stop.

 I agree with this post. Pretty black and white, our D line has to be bigger. Our Defensive ends/corners have to contain better and be able to push the QB. We have been weak in this area for years, and it was our Achillies heel in a couple of games this year. I'm sure the management at 1 Bills Drive knows what they have to do. Unless we get a dominating defense, we will be in the same place next year. Go Bills!

offense was championship level. The rest of the  units. D and ST. Not even close. Dvoa breakdowns back it up

We still need a boundary receiver that can separate.  Coleman and Kincaid have alot of pressure on them to step up, IMO.  Beane made that clear.

 

DE, CB, DT, S: same story different year.  Beane needs to finally hit some triples/homeruns early on in draft, especially at DL and CB.  

 

I know this is about the offense.  But I think we could get even better output wise, with a stronger defense.  I'm all for blowing up the DL: cut Von, AJE, and Daquon.  All are "net positive" savings on the cap.  FA/draft, both, find some studs.  B-level players, while useful in regular season, just doesn't get it done son.  Beane, looking at you to fix this problem that beens alluding you for years.

Could you imagine what it would be like for the offense with 2 or 3 more possessions a game because the defense actually got off the field... and the field position we could have if they could force a 3 and out a couple times...

Ravens had 29 more rush yards against us, if they're an elite rush team we're not far off

They just gave up on the rush in that game, I wouldn't consider that the rule as much as the exception. Lamar and Henry had 900 and 1900 yards rushing.

I’m not sure how this spun so far out of control but to my 35,000 foot view, the defense needs MAJOR retooling at every level….DL, LB and secondary. Of the three levels, linebacker can probably wait, but even there Milano keeps getting hurt. The Bills could invest every single draft pick on defense and still not get it done.

I am still a Higgins fan .

Whether draft or FA . We need to ramp up 3 positions ASAP.

The type of receiver described up stream needs to be up to " speed" in short order. Early impact player

People on here grade the offense on an organic chemistry exam and Sean and the D on the times tables.   If you don't think 90 percent of the problem holding this team back isn't on the defense, you really should follow another sport you can understand.   Most points scored and they played a game less than the Eagles and you just watched a defense shutdown Mahomes and Co.

I can see trading for a someone like Garrett or Crosby. You'd still have enough draft capital to grab DL. It's a deep draft there. There are some absolute monster DTs. Some can even apply pressure up the middle and get to the QB. I think with the recent D coaching hires, they may be open to expanding the paradigm. I sure hope it includes adding heft in the trenches on the D side.

I did not know the stat for what Bills were running against overall for the season. So thanks for that info !

 Need to break that down some more. Down distance etc.

 But a highly functioning boundary WR is the missing piece to a near complete Offensive for Brady to open up the good Book in whole.
