Was Hurts really the SB MVP?

Yeah, he had a good game but I think they should’ve given it to the whole Eagles defensive line.  They were awesome.

 

I came on here the other day and said the pass rush doesn’t matter if KC runs the short pass game like they did vs the Bills.  Boy, was I wrong!

Mahomes got so antsy from being hit, he was rushing passes with a clean pocket, which I know was rare in this game.

 

it was the kind of game that pretty much ended Tony Eason’s career after the 85 Bears harassed him or Jared Goff’s performance for a couple years after the Patriots pummeled him.  
 

Mahomes seems to be a different breed who shouldn’t be affected by this game but who knows.

Hurts was very good, but yeah the Philly pass rush was the MVP. I seen some people today saying that KC had Recievers open but Mahomes either didn’t have the time needed to find them or the rush was causing him to believe he had no time and making him bounce around the pocket with antsy feet.

The line was definitely MVP - they don't do that though, right?

 

If they can't do a whole unit, Hurts was the right choice. He had a great game, passing & running, and making key plays all night.

Hurts was the Most Valuable Player. He scored 3 TD's and had 300 yards of offense. 

 

No single defensive player had a bigger contribution to the win. 

 

They don't give MVP to groups. It's an individual award.

I understand that you have to give the MVP to one guy, but that makes it really hard to give it to a D-lineman when it was a group effort. But Jalen Hurts was NOT the best player on the field yesterday.

If there’s any chance of giving it the Qb, that’s where it’s usually going. But he had a good game anyways

Hurts aside from that interception was money and accounted for 3 of their 4 TD.  Josh Sweat would have been a close 2nd as he looked unblockable for most of the game.

Chris Jones should have been last years MVP.

I'm fine with Hurts winning this years MVP, but I honestly think half of the QB's in the NFL could have won that game yesterday.

It’s funny. At halftime I asked “If the game ended now who would you give the MVP to?” I had nothing at the time except Hurts or the entire Philly defense.

Hurts did a fantastic job of picking up blitzes and he hit some crucial deep throws under heavy pressure. He had a heck of a game.

Hurts had pretty mid stats when the game was out of reach barring a miracle (27-0 late in the third). Both QBs benefited a lot from garbage time last night.

 

Realistically the Eagles could have run every single play when it was 27-0 and still won.

You can’t give the award to 4 players.  They all played good neither one really stuck out above the others.  Maybe Sweat?

That would be the Eagles DL and secondary. It's like when Tampa Bay won with Brady and the whole defense deserved it.

 

Hurts played well, but the defense carried the banner.

The 1st half was all defense 3 sacks early on, a pick 6 and another pick near the end of half for Hurts to score an easy TD. 24-0 was game thanks to defense and the defense finally let up after the gatorade shower with 3 minutes to go

By the conventional standards applied Hurtz was a worthy SB MVP as others have noted his numbers were more then good enough. But for anyone who watched the game the Eagles defense won the SB.  Until they collapsed from exhaustion & despair the Chiefs D handled the Eagles O holding them to 13 points until late in the 3rd quarter.  If anything Hurtz missed some throws and had a bad INT in the 1st half.

He had some incredible throws last night and outgained Barkley on the ground. He was definitely MVP

I can't wait to hear the future discussions in the media about this. They'll say "Jalen Hurts has a ring" and use it as a cudgel against other players far superior to him.

 

He's better than Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer at least

Hurts' numbers came mostly in the second half after the game had been decided by the Philly Dline. I would have voted for Sweat who made the biggest numeric contribution to the Dline first half dominance.

I said during the game that the MVP should be Sweat.  Hurts played well except for the careless interception, but Sweat led the charge that crushed Mahomes like I've never seen happen before.
